Today morning I read one of the best emails of my life. The email was from YouTube, congratulating me for being accepted to the YouTube Partner Program. YouTube partner program review took net 25 days (including holiday) to approve this website’s channel for YPP. My Channel had gone for review on 25th of August, 2018 and I got congratulation message on 20th September, 2018, that is today.
I had applied for the YPP program before even the channel had reached minimum 1000 subscribers and 4000 Watch hours in last 365 days, the minimum threshold for review. My Channel crossed the minimum requirement for review on 25th of August, 2018. Then I had 1262 subscriber and obviously 4000 hours of watch time.
As every YouTube user (creator or no creator) by default has a YouTube channel, I created this channel around 7 years ago. In the beginning, I made a few videos just for fun and testing. However, those test videos have been very successful in getting views.
► Why did I decide to become a YouTube Creator?
There was lots of pressure from website visitors, brands, and my friend circle that why I am not active on YouTube as a creator. I did manthan on this and realized that post-Reliance Jio data revolution in India, the need of time is to use YouTube also as one of the ways to take my website and its content to masses.
Initially, I was not sure what to do on YouTube? What is best for me? Should I review smartphones or something else? After carefully measuring every aspect I decided that whatever has worked for me so far with the Gadgets Shiksha Website I should reinvent the same in YouTube format. That is not focusing only on smartphones but all types of smart electronics and the latest gadgets. Good news is that worked for me. I finally underlined My channel’s theme. It is essential. Often people fail to set a theme for a channel. Without a theme, you cannot grow a channel.
With the set concept and my ideas for visual presentation, I started working day and night. I worked very hard on my presentation skills. I am still not perfect. Need to work a lot. That is, in fact, exciting part of what I do.
At present, I have 194 videos and most of them rank number in the top five in YouTube search. Some of my videos have got overwhelming responses from YouTube users.
Initially, I was getting one subscriber within 15 days. Now I get on average 15 to 20 new subscribers. I am happy with that.
► Why I decided to follow my passion
After completing my BCA, I decided to purpose my passion for electronics and gadgets. However, there was presser from my family side that I should look for a Government Job. I knew though I am not someone for 9 to 6 job, doing the same set of works every day. Life has to be exciting. I have absolutely no problem in working 24 works without failing.
Whether success of failure, I would not have any regret in my last part of life that — had I followed my passion I would have become a more successful person. Today I follow my passion. My work is my entertainment. I hardly waste my time on any other entertainment.
The best part of my life is that every decision is my own. There are many stakeholders in my success, but for failure, I am alone responsible. Best of luck if you are a YouTube creator.
