It was one of the best emails of my life that I read this morning. The email was from YouTube, congratulating me for being accepted into the YouTube Partner Program. YouTube partner program review took 25 days (including holidays) to approve this website’s YPP channel. My channel was submitted for review on the 25th of August, 2018 and I got a congratulatory message on the 20th of September, 2018, which is today.
I applied for the YPP program even before the channel had reached 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours in the last 365 days. This was the minimum threshold for review. My channel crossed the minimum requirement for review on the 25th of August, 2018. Then I had 1262 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time.
Every YouTube user (creator or no creator) by default has a YouTube channel. I created this channel around 7 years ago. In the beginning, I made a few videos just for fun and testing. However, those test videos have been very successful in getting views.
☼ Why did I decide to become a YouTube Creator?
There was lots of pressure from website visitors, brands, and my friend circle to be active on YouTube as a creator. I thought about this and realized that post-Reliance Jio data revolution in India, the need of the time is to use YouTube as one of the ways to take my website and its content to the masses.
When I first started on YouTube, I wasn't sure what to do. What is best for me? Should I review smartphones or something else? After carefully measuring every aspect I decided that whatever has worked for me so far with the Gadgets Shiksha Website I should reinvent the same in YouTube format. That is not just about smartphones, but all types of smart electronics and the latest gadgets. The good news is that it worked for me. I finally underlined my channel’s theme. It is essential. People fail to set a theme for a channel. Without a theme, you cannot grow a channel.
With the set concept and my visual presentation ideas, I started working day and night. I worked very hard on my presentation skills. I am still not flawless. Need to work a lot. That is, in fact, an exciting part of what I do.
At present, I have 194 videos and most of them are ranked among the top five in YouTube search. Some of my videos have gotten overwhelming responses from YouTube users.
Initially, I got one subscriber within 15 days. Now I get 15 to 20 new subscribers. I am happy with that.
☼ Why did I decide to follow my passion?
After completing my BCA, I decided to pursue my passion for electronics and gadgets. However, there was pressure from my family that I needed to look for a government job. I knew I was not someone for a 9 to 6 job, doing the same set of work every day. Life must be exciting. I have absolutely no problem working 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Whatever my outcome, I would not regret following my passion in the last part of life, as I would have become a more successful individual. Today I follow my passion. My work is my entertainment. I rarely spend time on entertainment.
The best part of my life is that every decision is mine. There are many stakeholders in my success, but for failure, I am alone responsible. Best of luck YouTube creators.
