Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Laptop
Dell has earned a great reputation in the eyes of laptop users in India. This brand is known to offer great build quality, better performance, and good after sale services. In fact, most of the times, Dell remains the top preference of laptop buyers.
The Dell Inspiron 15 3000 (3558) Laptop is a really a great choice for someone who has a limited budget and still wants a good device. It is available in the market for an amount of 32,000 rupees (give or take 2000 rupees).
Initially, Dell’s Inspiron Series offered only a basic package but the scenario has changed a lot nowadays. This laptop comes with some amazing features, which we will discuss in the below paragraphs. You should also check our exclusive review of Dell laptops at Top 5 Dell Laptop Under 35000 Rupees.
So, without any further adieu let us get down to it.
Better Build And Eye-Catching Design
Most laptops available under the price cap of 40,000 rupees do not feature a durable body but the Inspiron 15 3000 (3558) does not follow the same tradition. It is well-built and sports an attractive outer shell. I strongly appreciate Dell’s choice of materials while making this product.
Patterns of top panel eliminate fingerprints and also feels great to the eyes. Two hinges hold the display strongly and do not allow much movement.
Chiclet keyboard gives great comfort while typing. There is a decent distance between keys, thus users will have less chance of mistyping. A separate numeric keypad on the right side is good for productivity related tasks.
A 15.6-inch HD display makes this device a perfect platform for watching movies, browsing online and doing productivity related tasks. Dell’s TrueLife display technology helps in enhancing the contrast ratio and reducing reflections. As a result, you will enjoy working on the Inspiron laptop in all types of environments (be it indoors or outdoors).
Color reproduction of this screen is impressive. Images look natural with minimal to no distortion. Viewing angles are not great but that is the case with every budget laptop out there.
Generates Loud Audio
This laptop sports two speakers on the front and generates really loud audio. The audio quality is amazing and users will love listening to music on it. Dell has powered its audio system with Waves MaxxAudio technology.
At this price point, you will not get a high-performing laptop. It is a budget device and performs just like one.
The variant we tested sports Intel’s 5th Generation Core i3 5005U processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. This CPU has two cores and can run four threads simultaneously. It handles Windows 10 OS without any problem.
Customers will not face any performance issues while doing everyday tasks like web-browsing, watching videos, and running less power hungry programs. I would like to point out though this machine is not good for video editing or gaming.
Intel HD Graphics 5500 is not a powerhouse. In case you want more power then Dell also sells another variant with Nvidia GeForce 920M GPU.
One TB of SATA HDD will provide more than enough storage. This hard disk does not offer high read and write speed because it runs at 5400 RPM only.
Impressive Battery Life
There is a 4-cell battery on the Dell laptop. It utilizes energy very efficiently and lasts for more than 4-5 hours on single charge. The battery case is sturdy and strongly attached to bottom. It gets fully charged in around one hour.
Comes With All Connectivity Features
When it comes to laptops, customers always suffer from low connectivity options. The good thing is Dell has tried to load this Inspiron 15 3000 series laptop with all the connectivity features we normally find on a desktop PC.
The list of ports of this laptop includes two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port, one RJ45 jack and a full-size HDMI port. You also get an SD card slot on the left side and a DVD writer on the right side.
- Long power backup
- Superior build quality
- Big screen
- Comfortable keypad
- High quality and loud audio
- DVD writer and RJ45 jack
- Viewing angles of display are not good
- Keypad is not backlit
The Dell laptop will prove to be a really good option to go for if the budget is not more than 35000 rupees. It sports a decent CPU and comes enclosed in a sturdy body. Moreover, the connectivity features it offers are hard to come by on other laptops.

HP Pavilion AC635TU Laptop
HP has been struggling in the laptop market from the last 5-6 years, though the brand is trying very hard to earn the lost reputation back. Some months ago, it launched the 15-AC635TU laptop with a price tag of around 40,000 rupees. Just a few months before we had published a review article on HP laptops: Best HP Laptops in India below 36000 Rupees.
To be honest, this laptop does not come with any big design changes and looks like typical HP device. The top panel sports a gray color finish, though it does offer diamond patterns for resisting fingerprints.
Fortunately, its looks are not that bad. The outer shell is just 24.38mm thick and weighs in at 2.19 KG only. Although HP has not used a single piece of metal, it still feels sturdy and durable.
Full HD Display Panel
While others laptop in this price segment offer only HD ready displays, this HP device sports a vibrant full HD screen (15.6-inch) with a resolution of 1920 X 1080 pixels. Graphics turn out to be sharp and well-detailed. High pixel density really enhances the user experience. Viewing angles are wide and contrast ratio, too, is super high.
An anti-glare layer on top of the screen eliminates reflections, thereby reducing eyestrain.
Good for Daily Usage
This laptop runs on Intel’s Core i3 6100U processor. Although you can easily find laptops with Core i5 processor in the same segment but the good thing about the HP laptop is it sports a 6th generation processor (which will be 10 percent more powerful than the old generation ones).
Only 4GB RAM is a downside in my opinion. Generally, Windows 10 OS consumes around 30-40 percent RAM even when no program is running. Using chrome bumps up the ram consumption to as high as 60 percent. Due to this, productivity apps like Adobe Photoshop and Camtasia Studio suffer a lot.
Gamers should stay away from the HP laptop because it does not sport a dedicated graphics card. The integrated Intel HD Graphics can easily run 10 or 15 year old games like GTA SA and GTA VC but the newer games will not run properly even at low settings.
Unimpressive Battery Life
The Intel 6th generation or Skylake processors are famous for consuming less power but bad hardware optimization from HP’s side reduces the battery life of this laptop. It flaunts a 4cell battery and still manages to give backup for only 3-4 hours. The main culprit here is the high-resolution full HD display. More pixels require more energy and greatly affect the power backup.
