Rio New York Top 5 Dual SIM Mobile Phones Below 5000 in April 2015

More than 100 crores active mobile phone connection makes India the hotspot for a telecom boom. According to the IDC, India is the fasted growing smartphone market in the world. Interestingly, such attractive figure is making India one stop place to launch new launches. In this article, we are introducing some brand new smartphones with innovative feature, huge battery power, latest connectivity, and Dual SIM network support. These budget smartphones are affordable but bears bears many great features.

InFOCUS M2 Smartphone with HD Display and 8 MP Camera

For years American based company Infocus has been known in creating high-quality DLP and LCD projectors. Recently the company has spun its wings to the smartphone industry and continues to push to the boundary limits in what we had come to get used to in mere budget phones. This is changing as the Infocus is stepping up its competition and its time other makers follow suit.

The phone has a stunning 4.2” WXGA display with a fantastic pixel density of 355-PPI. At a resolution of 768 by 1280, which need not say looks excellent even with the low screen technology employed. The display of this InFocus smartphone has excellent color reproduction, precisely 16M with a quick refresh rate of 63.33-Hz as well. Viewing angles, too, are great hence everything looks clear even if used under direct sunlight. The major drawback of the screen, however, is it attracts lots of fingerprints during use.

Body and Design: The phone has a very solid matte plastic build with its curved design sacrificing the slim trim in most phones launched this year. Measuring in at a whopping 11.1 mm, which by today’s standards is very thick. The breadth comes at 64.5 mm with a height of 135mm. Strangely enough; the phone is only 146g, which is a plus to the Infocus design team. The phone comes in two color variants – black and white.

InFocus M2 Review Specifications and Price in India

The volume and power button are placed on the side with the capacitive buttons printed at the bottom, but lacking an LED back-light for dark places. The 3.5mm audio jack is at the top of the phone while its loud speaker is unanimously placed at the back. The non-removable 2010mAh does a good job in keeping up with the hardware with a total standby talk time of 480 hours over 3G networks.

Storage and Processing Features of this Infocus Smartphone

For a phone this price, one is left in awe looking at the package under the hood. It packs in 1GB of RAM, a MediaTek MT6582 Quad-core processor each clocked at 1.3 GHz. The display drivers are powered by a Mali-400mp GPU. It has an internal memory of 8GB, which looked great until a closer inspection when you realize you get to use only 4.62GB as the rest is already installed with the Infocus bloatware. To cover up for the mess, the engineers packed in a Micro SD slot that supports up to 64GB.

Camera: Daring is what we can say the company has gone for, the phone sports a dual 8Mp camera upfront as well as at the back. The camera UI is simple and does it job well, it packs some pretty cool features as well such HDR, Beautification, Panoramic mode as well as Smile Auto Capture for the front facing camera.

The back shooter has an LED flash light with f/2.2µ aperture for maximum light absorption for lowly-lit environment(s). It peaks an output of 3264 x 2448 with the capability to record HD videos at 1080P. Further, the front shooter has a diffused LED capable of shooting 1080p videos, it supports face and smile detection for auto capture. It’s also useful for video chats and calls.

Connectivity and Added Features on Infocus M2

The phone supports Wi-Fi band 802.11/b/g/n as well hotspot, Bluetooth and USB tethering is also inclusive. It comes with a Micro USB 2.0 port for fast charging and data syncing. Further, it has a dual micro-SIM capability with 3G connectivity working in only one of the SIM cards.

Sensors and Software Features: The phone comes with a proximity sensor, gyroscope, and an ambient light sensor as well as an accelerometer. In addition,  it also has inbuilt FM radio support.

The phone is running Infocus custom Skin, ‘Lifeline’ UI on top of android 4.4.2 Kitkat with no official Information of an upgrade. Actually, it comes pre-installed with EZ launcher which does away with an app drawer opting for an iOS-like interface, this can always can be uninstalled to remain with the stock android launcher which we prefer.

Rio New York Smartphone with Dual SIM in Regular Size

New entrant smartphone manufacture the Rio mobile continue to marvel us with their price friendly and feature packed phones. The phone manufacturers are pushing the scales in the mobile landscape by drastically offering low priced phones, which needless to say function exceptionally average.

The phone has a massive 5-inch display, which has a rather disappointing resolution of 480 by 854. In fact, the capacitive touch screen is also prone to fingerprints due to the glossy-like coating employed by Rio mobile.

Rio New York Review Specifications and Price in India

The phone has an ambient light sensor, which does a good job in adjusting the screen brightness. However, Rio’s budgetary approach to the phone’s design makes it have terrible viewing angles and even the 16M color reproduction rate does not come into place us pixelation evidently visible. Without multiple touch support, the functionality of certain apps limited.

The lack of any protective screen technology makes it attract scratches very easily hence purchase of an extra accessory such as a screen guard is necessary

In conclusion, the phone has a very good looking screen when it is off, once powered on you get to see all the flaws in such a poorly made ‘budget’ smartphone. The phone takes very little advantage of its mammoth 5 inches display as its all wasted glass without wide screen display. Black gaps can be seen during a normal full-screen video display.

Body Design and Battery of this Rio Smartphone

If the poor display doesn’t make you think of a refund, then the outrageous design will make you think twice. It has a relatively thin design measuring at 8.4mm, but the extra curvy edges making the phone look like a tablet version of a Nintendo color game boy console from the future. The rest of the dimensions are OK with the breadth of 73.9mm and a height of 144mm.

The only positive thing so far has to be the 2000mAh battery. We are not impressed because of it low capacity, but because it can be removed and a better one to put (it’s not a budget phone now, is it?). One is only left to wonder with all the extra purchases just to keep the phone in a good working condition.

The color options are as limited as its features with most stores having the black variant.

Memory Storage and Processing: The joke even continues to the storage where we are treated to 4GB of internal storage out of which only 1.4GB is available for use. Memory can be expanded via a micro SD card up to a maximum of 32GB.

The phone is powered by a MediaTek MT6582 Quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz to keep things running. This sounds great until you realized how unfed it is by the 512MB of RAM thus the user will never realize the true utilization of the four core processors under the hood.

Camera and Connectivity Of this Dual SIM Smartphone

The phone is equipped with two cameras, an 8MP back shooter with autofocus and an LED flash, which works well, at least. The front-facing camera is a 2MP camera for video calling and takes some decent pictures when in the right conditions.

Connectivity: The phone has support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS and an inbuilt FM radio. A micro USB cable is also available for Charging and Data Syncing. The phone has dual SIM capability supporting GSM, EDGE and GPRS on both SIM cards and HSPA for only one SIM card.

Sensors and Added Features: It has a Proximity Sensor, an ambient light sensor and a gyroscope. Further, the phone runs on a custom made ROM of Android 4.4.2 KitKat without any input on the lollipop upgrade.

Cons:-

  • Very poor viewing angles and color reproduction
  • Poor balance in hardware resources

Dual SIM Celkon Millennia Q450 Smartphone with Quad Core Processor

The Celkon telecommunications launched its budget smartphone the Millennia Q450. The phone sports a 4.5 inches FWVGA display with nice color reproduction as well as the viewing angles giving an almost perfect display. The touch screen display has a standard color density of 16 million colors. It has a maximum resolution of 480 pixels horizontally and 854 pixels vertically giving it a pixel density of 207.

Body Design and Battery Capacity: The phone features a bar design with a good feel in the hand. And, the matte plastic finish is excellent and resistive to fingerprints. The company has really tried to make the phone relatively thin at 9.73-mm with a width of 67.7-mm and the height is 135-mm. The design team really flopped in maintaining the phone’s weight, which is at an extravagantly 147 grammes.

Celkon Millennia Q450 Review Specifications and Price in India

The phone has some really interesting color choices ranging from the famous Gold to the standard white and finally the cool grey.

The trivial 1,800mAh battery will keep you fairly well for a full day on light usage. However, for the power users story is different. Lucky Celkon did a good job in making the battery replaceable hence you can always swap it for a higher capacity battery.

Storage and Performance of this Celkon Smartphone

The Q450 comes to the game with a relatively disappointing small internal memory of 4GB of which only 30% is available to the user (1.4 GB). This is even made worse by the 512MB RAM translate into total lag after some period of heavy usage. The only good news from the storage department as the inclusion of an expandable slot for the SD cards, which allows up to 32GB of storage.

If things cannot be this bad, they get worse when it comes to the processing side as the MediaTek chipset, which is clocked at 1.3GHz is a Quad core clearly underfed by the mediocre RAM. Besides, there are many pre-installed with 3rd party apps such as Dropbox, which offers additional cloud storage for the heavy data consumers.

Camera: The phone comes armed with two shooters, back and front facing cameras. The back shooter is a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash as well as auto focus. It takes decent photos though with a lot of digital noise when the 4X digital zoom is engaged during shooting.

The camera is also incapable of taking HD videos though it has bundled with it some nice software tweaks to cover up for it. The panoramic mode and HDR mode come in handy during the low light shooting though noise is clearly visible.

The front features a 2MP camera for selfies and video calling, this is especially handy due to its wide shooting angle mode and smile detection adds on.

Connectivity and Software Onboard on this Desi Brand Phone

Wi-Fi capability is available with the phone as well as Bluetooth v 4.0. The phone comes with GPS enable as well as FM radio, a micro USB 2.0 is also include which allows data transfer and fast charging. The phone has dual SIM capability with 3G network available for SIM one. Also, it supports the regular band signal across the networks with supports of EDGE and GPRS on both SIM cards.

Sensors and Software Features: The phone has a proximity sensor, an accelerometer, light sensor as well as a gyroscope. Celkon Q450 runs on a custom version of android 4.4.2 KitKat, which is very buggy and lags a lot due to the poor balance in hardware architecture and resources. The phone supports java apps out of the box.

Cons:-

  • Poor hardware balance
  • Low screen resolution
  • Poor camera architecture
  • Luck of an update and poor customer after care.

Swipe Marathon Smartphone with Huge 4000 mAh battery and 2 Months Standby

The Swipe Technologies, the best-known brand for creating security solutions and surveillance equipment. It has entered in the market with bold moves and putting its name tag as a serious contender in the overly crowded budget phone market. The brand introduced the first smartphone late last year. The Swipe Marathon launched officially early this year.

The phone sparks a brilliant 4.5 inches IPS capacitive touch screen that is capable of multi-touch input. It has a color pixelation of 16M colors with a maximum resolution for 480 by 854, which the least to say is not impressive from such a massive screen size. The phone display has a pixel density of 218-PPI, which eliminates visible pixels from the display even when zoomed in. Moreover, the screen does not come with any special protection, but users have the ability to apply a screen to protect against the usual scratches.

Body Design and Battery Performance: If there was to be a mobile beauty contest, then the swipe would have no doubt won it with ease. The phone has a gorgeous and fine-looking bar design with well-trimmed edges and placement of its side control buttons. It has metal-like edges, which make it have the premium-“like” look to it. The only drawback, however, is the poor placement of the loud speaker at the bottom edge of the phone in the back, which is prone to be covered by hand or objects.

Swipe Marathon Review Specifications and Price in India

The phone is just 9 mm thick and weighs a mere 150 grams, which is a bit chunky, but we get to know why? The color options are also quite limited with white being dominant and you will be very lucky to find the black variant.

Battery Camera and Performance Details of this Swipe Smartphone

The killer feature in this phone has to be the battery. It packs in; believe it or not a whopping 4000mAh battery with standby time of 2 months. This is a remarkable achievement as not only is the battery that is huge, but they have gone further and made it removable hence can be swapped making this phone the ‘Ultimate Budget road warrior’ in terms of battery power.

Memory Storage and Processing: The phone has a dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz, which is a bit disappointing, but that has to be the sacrifice you’ll have to make to sustain two months on screen time. It has a 512 MB of RAM and the latest powerful GPU to keep the display units busy with the beautiful display.

The 4GB of ROM is not sufficient considering the user has around a gig and a half of storage. Memory can be improved by the micro SD card slot available up to a capacity of 32GB.

Camera: The phone has two cameras, the back shooter is engineered with 5 mp fixed focus lens, which we don’t think should be a design implementation in this day and time. The front facing is a 0.3 MP camera which takes very terrible pictures but can come in handy during video calls because of the low-resolution images it takes.

Software and Connectivity of Best Battery Smartphone

The phone is dual SIM enabled with GSM/CDMA support. As far as other connectivity features are concerned then it has the Wi-Fi support for bands 802.11 b/g/n with Wi-Fi tethering available, Bluetooth support is also included, GPS as well as FM radio.

The phone is a Android powered device and hosts peripheral connection through the micro USB 2.0 charging and data transfers. And, its 3.5-mm audio jack is a plus for the music lovers.

The phone comes with a 4.5-Inch FWVGA IPS touch screen display with a resolution of 480 by 854. The IPS display of this phone looks impressive because of vibrant colors with a good color reproduction even in direct light. However, the display lacks an ambient light sensor leaving users to manually configuring the brightness every time they change their environment.

Body and Design: The matte plastic build gives it a gentle fill and half-premium add to it. The manufacturers have managed to fit in a very slim design at only 8.2-mm thick. This makes the phone have an amazing handling capability. The back is a poorly powered 1700-mAh battery, which gives an average talk time of 200 Hours and a standby time of approximately 5-hours.

The color options are quite limited with users having to only settle for Glossy black.

Memory Storage and Processing: The phone packs in a MediaTek MT6572 Dual core CPU, each core clocked at 1.3-GHz, which keeps things in control coupled up with a 512-MB of RAM.
