Top 11 Low Budget Smartphones Between 4000 to 5000 Rupees

We are back with an express review article presenting you some eleven low budget smartphones best-suited for basic gaming, WhatsApp, Google search and other smart works. My interaction with these phones say they are the best choice below 5000 rupees at present.

Wiio WI3 – Mammoth Battery and Decent Camera

I am sure you have never heard about the Wiio smartphone. This is a new Indian smartphone brand has the main headquarters in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Thanks to free Android operating system and cheap Chinese factory, every morning one new smartphone brand joins this ultimate race with a series of phones.

After a careful consideration, we have selected the WI3 for its huge battery power. It runs on Android Kitkat 4.4.2 and takes in two GSM SIM card. In the CPU section, it has a quad-core MediaTek processor coupled with a 1GB RAM and Mali GPU.

Wiio WI3 Review Specifications and Online Price in India

You can store up to 5 GB of multimedia content in its inbuilt 8GB internal memory (approx 3GB is consumed by OS and system). If the 5GB of shared storage is not sufficient, you can opt for a microSD card support, which goes up to 32GB in storage capacity.

The WI3 sports a 5 inches screen with IPS LCD display wherein the resolution is qHD and a pixel density rate stand at 220 PPI. According to the brand assessment, the end user will experience great viewing angle and true life colors in this display.

The 8MP primary shooter comes with a Sony image chip-set is impressive in photography and does a great job in natural light, specially. For a better performance in the low light condition, it has an LED flash and a digital ZOOM control. Preset features such as face detection, Geo-tagging, HDR and Multi-Shot gives it an edge over branded competitors.

The main highlight of the Wi3 is a lithium Polymer 4000 mAh battery. In fact, the brand did a good job in honoring a low budget smartphone with mammoth battery. The end user is going to be surprised with this much fuel on-board, which translates into 9 hours of talk time and 33 days of standby. I am confident of at least 3 to 4 days of backup against regular usages.

Pro Features

  1. Mighty Battery
  2. Good Camera

This phone comes in a regular design with a basic set of hardware. However, we cannot ignore 4000 mAh battery and Sony images chipset in the rear shooter. I want to say PICK, but zero brand equity forcing me to say KICK. However, still choosing this phone won’t be a bad decision.

This is an excellent smartphone from Indian brand XOLO. In fact, a review of this phone is always published on this website as it is our pick. You can find more about the phone by visiting at Paisa Vasool Low Budget Smartphone XOLO Era with USB OTG

Karbonn Titanium Dazzle S202

The Karbonn Dazzle series is one good set of smartphones with quality hardware, latest software and a pricey look. There are just a few smartphones for which I register a statement – “I am impressed”. The Dazzle S202 is one of them. It offers a standard look with a metallic feel at all sides. You should consider the Karbonn S202 for a decent looks, 3G support, perfect sync between hardware and software (this translates into error and lag free performance without heating the shell) and a budget friendly price tag.

This is a cool smartphone for social media activity such as Whatsapp or Facebook messaging. You won’t experience lag because of a quad-core processor, which blinks at a speed of 1.2 GB. In order to achieve zero lag, Karbonn has blessed this phone with a 1GB RAM. After the first boot, around 450 MB RAM remains free for the end user. For storing of songs, videos, images or personal files, it has an 8GB of internal storage wherein around 5GB is left for the end users. Yes, memory expansion is supported with a microSD card, which adds extra 16 GB (If you insert a 32GB card, this phone will go into hang mode).

Karbonn Titanium Dazzle S202 Review Specifications and Online Price in India

This is not hidden to regular readers that I am a big fan of low PPI display. The Dazzle S202 comes with a standard display, which sucks battery fuel at very low rate because of a pixel density of 196 PPI and a low resolution of 480 × 854 Pixels. We are discussing a 5-inch IPS LCD with true-life colour and negligible pixelation issue. Here, viewing angle is good and icon looks sharp and crystal clear.

Camera component of Indian brand smartphones are just to make impressive specification sheet. Without a dedicated image sensor, you cannot expect good results. If you are planning to buy a low budget camera phone, then the Dazzle S202 is not a good choice. The word QUALITY does not feature in Karbonn dictionary, so you won’t get the desired quality in camera shots.

2000 mAh battery should be good for at least two days of basic usages. However, some users have complaint poor battery backup at online platforms. I do not subscribe those statements. We have to be logical- a user wants GPS on, Wi-Fi On, 3G Active, Display at maximum brightness (to see the GPS status) – what is this? In a 4800 rupees phone, someone wants performance like a 20000 rupees phone. This is too much.

  • Neat and clean design
  • All good features
  • Decent Battery Backup

This is one of few complete smartphone in the market. I am impressed with look, lag-free performance, 1GB RAM and flawless musical experience that refreshes user’s mind. In 4800 rupees, a smartphone with these good features get our PICK rating.

Intex Cloud M5 II

The second version of Cloud M5 is powered by a quad-core processor that is coupled with a 1GB RAM and a Mali GPU. It sports a 5 inches display, which is by the way optimized with 480P resolution and a pixel density of 196 PPI for better clarity. The main highlight on this Intex phone is its camera that even produces better images than what the camera of some 10000 rupees smartphones could. Read more about this Intex Cloud device at Brand New 4 Smartphones Between 4000 to 5000

T-Max Innocent i502

So far, I have been writing an express review. However, for the Innocent i502, we are presenting a super fast review. The T-max brand does not have an official website. While website development cost is just 200 to 300 rupees, the brand does bother to have one. In fact, my team has searched to collect information on T-Max service centers. We did not find one. A product with a maximum retail price includes a price of the product and a cost of free service warranty for an agreed period.

T-Max Innocent i502 Review Specifications and Online Price in India

Needless to say, when there is no information is available about the brand, its service centers and customer care number, the best advice for customers is keep a distance from its products. This is even when they appear to be quite good in terms of looks and specs.

Zen Ultrafone 402 Style Pro

This is a well-made smartphone offers a good experience to users. The Ultrafone 402 Style Pro multitasking is based on a quad-core processor, which clocks at a speed of 1.3 GHz. 1GB RAM in a low budget phone ought to be a good spec. There is also a dedicated GPU, which improves its performance during audio and other multimedia contents playback.

In fact, its 8GB internal and 32GB microSD card support is a good Memory management. The five inches display resorts 480P resolution with a pixel density of 196 PPI. For a 2100 mAh battery, the display optimization, which is backed by a quad processor, seems good notion for low consumption of battery.

The Zen 402 Style Pro has a 5MP primary camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. To make the best out of the camera, a digital ZOOM, and an LED flash has been embedded on-board.

Zen Ultrafone 402 Style Pro Review Specifications and Online Price in India

Now, the question is how well this camera performs? I can confirm that we are not impressed with both camera performances. And, I am not surprised because none of the Indian brands ave ability to offer a phone camera with a quality lens and a powerful application.

The 402 Style Pro supports three generation networks, which are 1G, 2G and 3G. For data transfer, Bluetooth, USB port and Wi-Fi are present along with GPS – which helps find the way or locate a place through satellite. Further, to make it a perfect choice for musical experience, the brand has added content players. An FM tuner alongside video, audio and image player are four well-designed applications to make your experience better.

The Zen smartphone bears a solid built with a textured back panel. Its outer shell has a silver-gray metal type frame that covering all sides. Certainly, this is a design attraction. Buying this phone at its current price would be a wrong investment.

Micromax Canvas Spark

This is a budget friendly device with the latest Android Lollipop, 4.7 inches qHD display, quad-core processor, 1GB RAM and 2000 mAh battery. The canvas Spark requires a registration to make a purchase at Snapdeal. We have presented more details on good and bad of this phone at Micromax Canvas Spark with Android Lollipop and USB OTG

ZTE Blade Q Lux 4G

The ZTE is not a popular brand among Indian smartphone buyers. However, its new smartphone with Android Lollipop and Indian 4G LTE support has a better story than some of the popular smartphones in this price range.

We have selected the Blade Q Lux 4G in this grand list of low budget smartphones after a careful consideration of features, specifications and the brand reputation. Two primary reasons to consider this phone is a budget friendly price tag of 5000 rupees and Indian 4G LTE support. Also, it has a decent pair of camera backed by a juicy battery.

The Blade Q Lux 4G is a complete smartphone. MediaTek quad-core processor is a surety of lag-free performance. 1GB RAM is more than sufficient in a low budget smartphone.   In order to deliver better spin in multimedia content, Mali-T760 MP2 GPU has been enrolled in the CPU section. The combination of these hardware ensures that a user gets the same reception as they feel with a 10000 rupees phone.

Display and Battery

A 4.5 inches screen size is a perfect choice for most of us. The display is an IPS LCD panel that offers a resolution of 480 by 854 pixels. I accept the pixel density of 218 PPI because the screen size is smaller and ZTE has bothered to fuel up 2200 mAh battery. This is lithium –ion battery that delivers a good backup against normal usages.

The ZTE promises for better shooting experience with 8MP rear and 5MP selfie shooter. The primary camera is backed by a preloaded auto focus, an LED flash and HD recording. Although the front facing camera is fixed focus but you will be able to take a cool selfie on a whim with an inbuilt wide lens. Some of the cool features of the main camera are Anti-Flicker, Panorama, Continuous Shot and Face Detection.

  • Indian 4G LTE support
  • Android Kitkat 4.4.2 operating system is upgradable to Android Lollipop 5.0.1
  • Lag free and smooth performance
  • Excellent display
  • Good Battery Backup
  • Decent camera

This is one more perfect smartphone with all needed features. I am sure the user is going to consider this phone because the future of communication relies on the 4G network. I am impressed with its delivery on multitasking and multimedia front. Our rating is PICK for a 5000 rupees phone with 4G LTE network support.

Price 5000 Rupees
SIM Dual, GSM, 4G+3G/2G
OS Android Kitkat 4.4.2
Processor Quad core, 1.3 GHz, MediaTek

Intex Cloud M6

At the price of 5000 rupees, in this article, another phone from Intex cloud series is the M6, which packs a decent configuration, nice camera and good battery backup as well. In fact, the promoted feature is 8MP primary and 5MP front facing camera. We have already covered the cloud M6 in a great details at Intex Cloud M6 is a Good Smartphone Below 5000 Rupees

Zen Sonic Bolt

The Sonic Bolt is a product of Indian smartphone brand Zen Mobile Ltd. This is just one-year-old smartphone brand with a wider network of sales and Support. We are able to locate the headquarter in New Delhi.

At an offered price of 4800 rupees, the Zen Bolt features the best display quality one can think of in the low budget category. It's 5 inches screen has a resolution of 1080 by 1920 pixels that is an FHD quality. We have to appreciate the fact that a quality of a premium smartphone delivers in this IPS LCD.

The Sonic Bolt runs on Android Lollipop 5.0.1 out of box. To make it efficient against multitasking and gaming, there is a quad-core processor, which coupled with a 1GB RAM and Mali graphic processor unit.

It has a preinstalled 8GB internal storage. After the first boot approx 4.89 GB free storage is available for the end user. To storage huge amount of multimedia content, user should take benefit of a dedicated SD card port- this is to support external memory expansion up to 32 GB.

Zen Sonic Bolt Review Specifications and Online Price in India

We are not impressed with camera performance. Lack of image sensor and a quality lens, the general camera performance translates into a blurred image output. Even the front facing camera does not have a say for a perfect selfie.

The Zen Bolt gets power from 2000 mAh lithium – ion battery. This is should be sufficient for a phone with qHD display and a pixel density of less than 200 PPI. However, we have an FHD display with 441 PPI pixels, which sucks all battery juice in just 20 to 24 hours even on basic usages.

This phone has a rich connectivity options and dedicated multimedia content players. It has a set of three different players for video, audio and images.

  • FHD Display with 441 PPI
  • Quad core processor
  • 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal memory
  • FM with recording
  • Android Lollipop operating system
  • Auto call recording

  • 2000 mAh battery is not sufficient for an FHD display
  • Zero brand equity
  • Average Camera performance

This is a good looking smartphone with a decent set of hardware. However, we are rating it KICK. In our observation, the pro feature FHD display goes against this phone.

Price 5000 Rupees
SIM Dual, GSM, 3G+2G
OS Android Lollipop 5.0.1
Processor Quad core, 1.3 GHz
Memory 1GB RAM, 8GB Memory, 32GB SD Card Support

Battery 2000 mAh, Li-ion
Connectivity BT, FM, 1G, 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, USB 2.0

Karbonn Aura

The brand new Karbonn Aura is a clear representation of poor understanding of current trend. While a low budget smartphone offers FHD display with a pixel density of 441 PPI and another gives 4000 mAh battery in a 4500 rupees phone, then the Indian gem Karbonn limits to just 512 MB RAM in a new series of smartphones. Trust me; I have added this phone just because of Karbonn branding. Otherwise, the current balance of hardware does not boost my confidence for hassle-free multitasking and easy multimedia experience.

A brand is judged by its character. The official website of a brand is the primary customer care centre to inform about current offering. We did not find a listing of this phone at Karbonn’s official website while our review process was on. For good customer care, Karbonn has to learn from Micromax and XOLO.

The Karbonn Aura comes in golden design print over a shell that has rounded corners. At a price of 4750 rupees, it offers a powerful processor and many connectivity options. Rest all features are good if we compare it with a smartphone launched in the year of 2013 or early 2014.

Is Karbonn counting last breath? I believe so because Lava and XOLO have been raising quality bar with a new device launch at every after 15 days. Karbonn does not have a quality offer in stiff competition between 10000 to 15000 rupees. Only in the low budget segment, which spans between a budget range of 3000 to 6000 rupees, Karbonn is making good sales. However, sudden interest of Lava and XOLO in low budget category is making life worse for the Karbonn.

Karbonn Aura Review Specifications and Online Price in India

The Karbonn Aura is a dual SIM smartphone runs on Android Kitkat 4.4.2 out of box. It packs a quad-core processor and a sub- standard 512 MB RAM for multitasking. No excitement at memory front because 8 GB ROM and 32GB microSD card expansion are just a basic norm nowadays.

Yes, I am impressed with 5 inches IPS LCD display, which features 480 by 800 pixels resolutions with good viewing angles. I have always been in favour of low pixel density in a smartphone display, so a pixel distribution rate of 187 PPI in the Karbonn Aura gets my thumb up.

Without an image sensor, Indian brand smartphone camera is just a dump component to secure moment without any quality. You must be guessing that where I am hinting at. Both camera – the rear 5 MP and front facing 2 MP is just a paper specifications.

2000 mAh battery gets big thumbs up for many days of stop-free multimedia and multitasking. In fact, Karbonn should get credit for this battery performance. I am really happy with battery backup, which delivers approx 2 to 3 days of fuel against normal usages.

The Karbonn aura packs all the latest connectivity options. Make your moment complete musical with audio & video player and FM tuner.

  • Good Processor
  • Excellent battery backup
  • Built and Design

  • Poor RAM size
  • Bad Camera performance

In my opinion, a decent battery backup is must. And, this smartphone comes really close to that. Therefore, despite all odds and poor RAM, I am rating Karbonn Aura a PICK.
