Premium Relaible Asus Gaming laptop Review in India

Asus ROG GL502VT Laptop with Full HD IPS Display

Gaming laptops are quite infamous for bulky setup and unpleasant looks. Due to this, many gamers feel struggling when it comes to traveling with laptops. Asus has taken a great initiative to solve this problem by launching the ROG GL502 VT laptop. Available at 127,875 rupees, the ROG GL502VT offers decent look, great build quality, high portability, and still manages to be good for gaming.

Compact and Portable: Asus has put a lot of hard work in making this gaming laptop as compact as possible. Although it is not as sleek as other ultra-books out there but is compact enough to easily carry around in a backpack. Read also 4 Best Selling HP Laptops for Every Day Use below 40000 Rupees.

The top panel of the ROG laptop sports a metal sheet with angled sides. It comes painted in a brushed metallic finish. The neon orange ROG (Republic of Gamers) logo at the center looks really appealing. Asus has made its front deck using plastic with matching paint to give a harmonious look. Use of plastic reduces the bulk, though it also degrades the build quality. Surprisingly, the whole setup is just 2.36 cm thick and only 2.2 KG heavy.

Asus ROG GL502VT Gaming Laptop Review and Specifications

Crystal Clear Immersive Full HD IPS Display

The Asus GL502VT features one of the best displays on a gaming laptop. Its 15.6-inch screen has a full HD resolution of 1920 X 1080 pixels. The IPS technology generates accurate colors with no distortion at all angles.

You will be surprised to see how immersive this screen feels while gaming. High motion refresh rate makes everything smooth and lag-free. LED backlighting system further enhances graphics by increasing the contrast ratio.

This combination of high motion refresh rate and accurate color reproduction is really hard to come by. Most displays out there either master in colors or in refresh rate.

An anti-glare coating on the screen minimizes eyestrain and gives users a comfortable experience. This coating is matte finished and thus reduces reflections as well.

Comfortable Inputs: Just above the deck is a full-size Chiclet keyboard. It offers a decent travel distance and gives a comfortable typing experience. Individual keys are enough wide and do not cause typing errors. The gaming keys (WASD) sports neon orange color. This laptop allows the users to choose from three brightness levels according to the need.

The trackpad on the ROG laptop is quite big, however, it is not as sensitive and accurate as a gaming enthusiast would like. You would be better off with a gaming optical mouse than to use the inbuilt trackpad.

This Asus ROG Laptop is Reliable in Performance

At the heart of this laptop is an Intel Core i7 6700HQ processor. It has 4 cores and can run 8 threads simultaneously. The base frequency is at 2.6 GHz, which goes as high as 3.5 GHz in Turbo Boost mode. You can expect a great performance from this Asus product.

To everyone’s surprise, the manufacturer has equipped it with a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M graphics card featuring 6GB of onboard video memory. The power it generates is more than enough for running even the most intensive games currently popular in the market.

The laptop can achieve frame rate as high as 70 fps in 1080p resolution. It makes the users feel like they are playing games in a studio.

Two 8GB memory sticks provide the laptop with 16 GB of RAM. This much random storage is perfect for storing game or application data. I would like to point out though the RAM is upgradable up to 32GB.

One can also use this device for productivity related tasks. It handles programs like Adobe Photoshop, After Affects and other 3D graphic software pretty easily. I did not find the processor to be lagging on any occasion whatsoever. It renders 4K videos at a very high speed.

Asus is providing 1TB of onboard HDD storage and 256 GB of PCIE SSD space. For achieving the maximum performance results, I would advise users to use the SSD storage to install the games.

A Gaming Laptop with Superb Connectivity Options

The manufacturer has loaded this laptop with a ton of connectivity options. You get three standard USB 3.0 ports and one USB Type-C port. HDMI and mini-Display interfaces allow the users to output games on a bigger screen.

Although it does feature a full-size RJ45 jack for high-speed internet but the real star of the show here is Wi-Fi AC LAN support to 1GBPS data transfer speed. Users will be able to enjoy online games wirelessly without a hitch.

Impressive Battery Life: Battery life is a big problem on most gaming devices. In order to solve this issue, Asus has installed a massive 4-cell battery on the ROG laptop. It easily lasts for a whopping 5 hours on moderate usage. This will prove to be a great benefit for college students who may use this laptop in college campus or while traveling.

Speakers Are Not That Great: The ROG GL502VT sports stereo speakers of Bang & Olufsen. It is a premium brand and has a great name in the market. While these speakers generate distortion-free highs, they start to struggle when it comes to bass and vocals. Full-time gamers should use a dedicated headphone for a better experience.

But this Asus Windows Laptop Heats up a Lot

Under the hood, this laptop flaunts two heat sinks, which are supposed to keep the motherboard cool, though that does not seem to be the real case.

Even on normal usage, the area around the display hinge goes beyond 50 degree Celsius. You might want to consider this before making a purchase decision. In the long run, high temperature may damage to many hardware parts.

  • Full HD IPS panel gives an immersive experience
  • Offers high frame rates
  • 3 USB 3.0 ports along with one USB Type-C port
  • Wireless AC (1GBPS)
  • Can run almost any game
  • It is a highly portable product
  • Long battery life
  • Attractive design
  • Good for productivity

  • Requires headphones for a good gaming experience
  • Heating problem
  • Low-resolution camera
  • No optical drive

Verdict: Despite heating and audio issues, this laptop is still a great option to go for, especially if you want a portable gaming solution. Its design is far superior to any other gaming laptop available in this price segment. Moreover, it offers Wireless AC LAN for high-speed data transfer without any physical connection.

Asus ROG G752VY Gaming Laptop

For hardcore gamers, there cannot be a better laptop than the Asus ROG G752VY. While its design has a great similarity with the Asus ROG GL502VT but its hardware is quite different. It is a premium laptop and hails for a premium price of 188,399 rupees.

Mind Blowing Design: Asus has tried everything in its hand to make this device look like the best gaming platform out there and the brand’s hard work has paid off really well. In fact, I cannot imagine better-looking gaming laptop than this one. It comes with a gunmetal color lid with ROG logo on top. Heat vents are on the rear and feature a neon orange LED at the center.

The rear of this laptop is a bit thicker than the front, which gives a traditional feeling (of gaming laptops). Four rubber feet lift the base higher in order to provide air for proper ventilation. Its deck is really wide and offers a good amount of space for palms to rest. At the bottom of the screen are five extra customizable keys. These can be assigned to different functions like the opening of a special game management software. The touchpad features separate left and right click buttons, which is great for gamers.

These days gamers love to use transparent desks just to give a cool look to their setup. Asus understands this and it has featured a look-through bar on the bottom of the ROG GL502VT laptop.

I would like to mention though it is a pretty heavy product and weighs in at a whopping 4.3 KG. Moreover, the power brick adds another 900 grams to the bulk.

Asus ROG G752VY Gaming Laptop Review and Specifications

This Asus Laptop has impressive 17.3 Inch IPS Display

The display quality of this laptop is same as the ROG GL502VT, the only difference being is a significant increase in screen size. Its full HD panel measures 17.3-inches diagonally and creates a perfect platform for gaming. Super high motion refresh rate of 75 Hz is beyond expectation. Vibrant colors, high contrast ratio and low response time add to user’s experience.

Unparalleled Performance: On the front of performance, the ROG G752VY beats every other gaming laptop out of competition. The onboard Intel 6th generation i7 6700HQ processor coupled with 16GB RAM creates a lag free environment. It also sports NVIDIA’s class leading GeForce GTX 980M GPU. This dedicated graphics card performs like a beast and can take on anything you throw at it.

The laptop is available in multiple variants and the one we are reviewing here sports 1 TB HDD for storing media files and another 512 GB of SSD for programs.

Performance of this device never gets throttled no matter how intensive a game is. Releases like GTA V and Assassin’s Creed are playable at extreme settings.

Asus has equipped the ROG G752VY with a liquid cooling system and it works really well. Even on a busy session, no part of the laptop (except heat vents) goes beyond the 45 degree Celsius mark. One thing that bothers many gamers is the noise many gaming platforms generate. Surprisingly, this laptop remains dead silent while playing games.

Upgrading of components like RAM and Storage is very easy. For the comfort of users, Asus has provided a separate panel with just one screw on the bottom. Removing this panel gives access to all the slots.

Generates Loud Audio: The speakers on this laptop are quite loud. You will love the quality of sound these generate. The manufacturer has even featured a sub-woofer for generating punchy and ground shaking bass. In my opinion, there is no need to purchase a dedicated speaker system for the purpose of gaming or watching movies on this device.

A Gaming Laptop with Good Connectivity Options But Average Battery

The list of connectivity features on the ROG G752VY includes a set of 4 USB 3.0 ports, 1 USB Type-C port, HDMI port and a min-Display port. Wireless AC LAN allows for high bandwidth online gaming without any hassle of physical connection. Separate headphone and speaker jack are great for people who do video editing.

Battery life on this laptop is just average as it eats up a lot of energy and sports only a 6-cell setup. Fortunately, Asus also sells an 8-cell variant but that model has a weight beyond 5 KG.

  • Big 17.3-inch full HD display
  • Wide viewing angles and high motion refresh rate
  • Backlight Chiclet keypad with customizable keys
  • Touchpad features dedicated click buttons
  • Optical drive
  • High performing CPU and GPU
  • 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD, and 512 GB SSD
  • Built-in subwoofer
  • Liquid cooling

  • Heavy setup
  • Not good for travel
  • Limited battery life

Verdict: As I said in the introduction, this laptop is for hardcore gamers. No other alternative can match its performance. The best thing I like about it is you get no heating issues and its fans generate much less noise.
