The difference between plastic and metal is quite apparent. In fact, enrich plastic as much as the technology permits but that cannot be equivalent to metal in terms of quality.
The current trend in the smartphone market indicates that in the coming days, devices those are in a metal case will take center stage. Actually, when there is not much to improve on specifications side, built & design is what now plays a significant role in deciding ranking of smartphones.
I think you won’t be surprised with the fact that to get a certain level of sturdy build when a metal case has to be just 7 to 8 mm thick then a plastic case might need 9 to 11mm of heavy thickness. Thus, it is quite obvious, in order to have an improved slim profile on the phone; it has to be in a metal case. The slimmest phone till date I have reviewed is the Samsung Galaxy A8. In fact, Samsung could make that phone so slim because of opting for a metal case.
In this article, I am going to recollect metal body smartphones in the price range of 6000 to 12000 rupees. These phones are already reviewed on this website. Therefore, this article is just to rearrange them in an order for those buyers who do not want to run between multiple review articles to find one best. I think they would appreciate that all the primary details of good quality metal made phones are at one place. Apparently, these four are best-selling mobile phones currently.
Xiaomi Redmi 3S
Priced at just 7000 rupees, and its “Prime” variant, which is priced at 9000 rupees are available currently through registration-based flash sales. I think after 15 to 20 days only both devices would be made available under regular sales.
These Xiaomi gems are blessed though with the regular but high-end specifications. First of all, both comes in metal case, and is lightweight, too. The only difference between these two phones is their RAM size. The 3S model has the 2GB RAM whereas the 3S Prime version has the 3GB RAM. Rest all features are same.
I will explain about them by referring just to the 3S model. Have no doubt it supports recently launched Reliance Jio 4G network and will support to VoIP calling, too, if Xiaomi decides to upgrade onboard software.
Its 5-inch screen in HD resolution and just 294 PPI pixel density is well-managed for perfect visual presentation. 4100 mAh battery is one of the most exciting features with it. Not to worry because of its huge battery as I just said it is a lightweight device. So with this much battery apparently its gross weight does not even cross 145 grams.
To have smooth performance, Xiaomi has trusted to Snapdragon processor. 64-bit architecture with Octa-core processor, Adreno GPU, and 2GB RAM making this device really reliable for hard multitasking.
The 13MP & 5MP camera setup is also advanced and takes good quality videos and snaps. Connectivity options apparently are sufficient for all kinds of network and data sharing.
All in all, Xiaomi Redmi 3S is the best device currently at the price of 7000 Rupees. Thus, if lakhs of smartphone fans are lining up to buy it – should not be surprising. One needs bigger RAM size – should consider Redmi 3S prime with 3GB RAM.

Lenovo K5 Note
Though it took more than two years and multiple failed launches but finally Lenovo has achieved what it wanted when it started smartphone business after facing a threat from declining PC business.
The K5 Note is also referred as Vibe K5 Note in some review articles. This with LeEco’s recent launch is setting a quality bar below 15000 rupees price. Without any doubt, it is a remarkable device. In fact, the specification of this device speaks everything.
Despite being packed in a metal case the magical device is just 152 grams in weight and 8.4mm in thickness. Further, it features a 5.5-inch full HD display therein has a qualified screen protection, too. It also has an impressive 72.31% screen-to-body ratio.
In terms of memory management, Lenovo has made it quite robust. Besides USB OTG integration, it is made with 4G RAM, 32GB internal memory, and expandable 128GB memory.
On the name of security, it bears fingerprint sensor. It is quite surprising that Lenovo has trusted MediaTek over Snapdragon processor. Fortunately, due to 4GB RAM, the absence of the Snapdragon hardware for multitasking and gaming does not feel much.
Even in terms of camera modulation, Lenovo’s attempt appears at the right side with the 13MP primary and 8MP front facing cameras. Both camera features advanced hardware for better management of images and videos. Although I was not a big fan of this Chinese manufacturer but my perception had changed when I reviewed Honor 4X. Coming to this phone, in last one month, I have gifted five pieces of this model to friends and family members. I love this simple yet elegant dual SIM 4G phone. In fact, it is quite suitable for all generations. Whether you are a businessman, housewife, senior citizen, or a young corporate professional -buy it without a second thought.
As far as its specialties are concerned, no one can deny this dons good configuration, larger battery backup, sharp display, and a reliable security by the fingerprint sensor onboard.
The Honor phone is just 8.3mm thick and 156 grams in weight and comes packed in a polished metal case. I do not bother much about its HiSilicon processor but only 2GB RAM is something making it a weak device in terms of multitasking. Therefore, its gaming performance, too, is not going to be quite pleasing.
For its camera performance, take my assurance that it will not disappoint you. Further, all the connectivity options are present those are necessary to make data and content sharing.
Only 3000 mAH battery is also a disappointment not because of its size rather missing quick charging feature. And if one does have any other job than just poking their smartphone, in that tough usages its battery fuel will last close to ten hours.
Despite some good and bad in Honor 5C, I am a big fan of this smartphone model. I really feel connected with it. Also, read more about this Huawei smartphone at All Metal Body Honor Smartphone Below 11000 Rupees.
LeEco Le 2
In terms of build and design, LeEco’s this second generation flagship is setting a benchmark. Its 7.5mm thickness is making it one of the thinnest budget smartphones on sale currently. Moreover, weighing just 153 gram despite it is a full-body metal device.
Its lithium polymer 3000 mAh battery might disappoint hardcore users but quick charging feature which is not with the Huawei device discussed above compensates that. This is a 4G Smartphone features Octa processor with 3GB RAM for multitasking and hard gaming.
Although lacking microSD card port but this LeEco smartphone bears sufficient 32GB onboard media storage wherein almost 25GB remains free. Not only that even in terms of camera management, LeEco Le2 appears to be benchmark setter. 16MP primary camera backed by the BSI sensor and with dual-LED flash supports my assessment.
One big change it brings in the budget smartphone line-up is USB type-C audio jack. Interestingly it is one more step in the full adoption of this latest and indeed fastest port.
All in all LeEco Le2 is a nicely made premium metal 4G smartphone. And, it has set a standard for upcoming devices if that is priced above 12000 Rupees. Do not miss our exclusive review article on this smartphone at LeEco Smartphone with Next Gen Multimedia Feature.
