Indian Smartphone brand Lava is trying hard to change how the people think about its smartphones and the brand is little serious this time. In the month of March, this year it tried to address a generation long problem of good power backup without compromising on the performance. Launch of the Lava Iris Fuel 10 brought to us a product with amazing specs under the affordable price of 7000 rupees.
It is hard to get a phone with a massive 3000 mAh battery even under 10,000 INR. Its attractiveness even increases with full HD recording capability and surety of Lollipop upgrade from Lava.
Built and Design
Thickness of 10.55 mm is not aesthetic in any way, but one has to compromise on something if he is looking for a phone with good power backup. However, the metallic strip that runs along the sides generates a nice illusion of slimness. Finish of the back panel is perhaps most appealing aspect of this phone. A camera grouped with a dedicated selfie button is not found on any other budget phone easily. Speaker mesh and Lava branding make this pone feel more like a device from premium segment.
Your concern would be more towards its weight of 161.1 grams that makes pocket too much heavy.
4.5 Inch Display
Resolution of 480 X 854 pixels provides enough crispiness to the 4.5 inch display of this phone. Many would criticize the Lava Iris Fuel 10 on its low pixel density of 218 pixels, but you cannot expect a phone of this price segment to feature all the premium features. That time has not come yet, at least for now.
Color reproduction of the screen is good, but the viewing angles make the experience bad for sure. You will not find any problem reading on this screen in bright daylight. The best of this display is achieved while playing games as then users get fully immersed to the environment of this phone.
5MP 2MP Camera
The 5 MP rear auto focus camera does not seem to impress user on the first look, but its quality is capable of giving a tough fight to any 8 MP camera on a phone under 8000 INR. Thanks to the BSI sensor that this camera produces really sharp and saturated images. In low light also it performs great and captures good amount of details.
The best part is that the rear camera on this phone is capable of shooting 1080p videos. That being said, it is the best 5 MP camera found on any budget phone. However, Optical Image Stabilization makes everything bad.
A 2 MP camera at the front is totally dedicated to selfie shooting. The selfie button on the back provides a quick toggle to directly jump to the camera app and take a quick selfie without much hassle.
The Lava Iris Fuel 10 boasts a quad-core processor (MediaTek Chipset) at its heart. This much processing power is enough for a phone of this price segment. You will be able to run most of the apps and games as it features 1GB RAM. However, this phone is not meant for high level multitasking.
Out of 8 GB of internal storage users get more than 6 GB to install their favorite apps and games. You can also expand the storage capacity up to 32 GB using a micro SD card.
All the smartphone users who like to use two SIM connections on their phones will not have to compromise on anything as this phone features dual SIM slots. You will also not have to worry about internet speeds as the Lava Iris Fuel 10 supports 3G networks.
This phone also comes with all the necessary connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and micro USB.
The Lava Iris Fuel 10 comes with three built-in sensors – accelerometer, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor. It is much hard to find a phone with light sensor at this price, so some appreciation can be given to Lava for making that possible.
3000 mAh Battery
This phone qualifies for the Fuel series just because of its 3000 mAh battery. You will be able to easily spend two days on a single charge. The good thing here is that a battery with this much capacity doesn’t take much time get charged. You can plug this phone before you go to sleep and in the morning you will get it fully charged.
At the time of launch Lava promised the Lollipop update and as it turns out the new shipping handsets are already running the latest Android out of the box. However, if you get a piece which still features Android 4.4 KitKat, you can easily update your phone using the OTA feature.
The UI is mostly stock with little customizations of Icons and colors. Enough RAM and a good processor provide a smooth and immersive experience to the user.
