Cameras on smartphones cannot match a professional camera in terms of output quality. However, it is also a truth that technology is developing at a very fast rate and every year more budget smartphones are out – equipped with more powerful cameras than their previous generation. Not only that, in fact, pay less a new generation smartphone with advanced hardware, improved design, and the latest software. Now even the budget smartphone can do Full HD video recording with an ease.
Recently, Indian brand Intex launched its Aqua M5, a budget smartphone, at the price of 5299 Rupees and currently it is up for sales at 4799 rupees only. It is really surprising that a phone this much affordable has a decent camera pair – on both sides. On the specification front also, this Intex phone appears quite an interesting device.
Design and Display
The black color on the front and back gives this phone a premium look. The high-quality built and the comfort that it gives in your hand is really appreciable. There is no doubt that the whole phone attracts fingerprints, but you cannot complain when you are paying just pennies.
It is an interesting fact that the Aqua M5 features a 5-inch display that has a resolution of 480 X 854 pixels. It might not be the best display in the market, but it does give a decent experience.
Auto focus 8 MP Camera with FHD Recording
The strongest side of the Intex Aqua M5 is its camera. The 8MP autofocus shooter on the back is capable of capturing some decent quality images. You also get a LED flash to help you in low light conditions. This phone really gets an upper hand on the optical front as many smartphones below 8000 Rupees do not even feature an 8MP camera.
The rear camera is capable of recording 1080P videos at 30 frames per second. The video captured with this phone contains much detail, but the color reproduction is questionable. However, the fact that it supports full HD recording is no less than a wonder. You can easily record the most memorable moments of your life and enjoy them on a big screen without any pixelation.
The 2MP camera at the front is too not bad and is capable of shooting selfies with great details.
The Intex Aqua M5 houses a 1.3 GHz MediaTek processor coupled with 512 MB of RAM. The low RAM will limit the processing power and users will experience frequent lags and stutters. You get only 4GB of internal storage, but it can be expanded up to 32GB with a micro SD Card.
The phone has two SIM card slots and the first one supports WCDMA networks, so you will be able to enjoy high-speed internet browsing on it. Some other connectivity features of the Intex Aqua M5 are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro-USB, and GPS. The sensors like proximity sensor, light sensor, and gravity sensor also make their way into this phone.
The 2000 mAh battery that the Intex Aqua M5 houses will at least give one day of power backup on the normal usages. Regular and heavy users of this phone should carry a charger along.
The Intex Aqua M5 runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box but is upgradable to Android Lollipop through an OTA update. The interface is not smooth as the RAM is very low and the whole performance gets more annoying if you install apps like Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp because they keep running in the background.
- Great camera with Full HD recording
- Good design
- Upgradable to Android Lollipop
- Only 512MP RAM and 4GB of internal storage
This phone is made for the users who want a decent camera experience. You can capture the moments with your loved ones in great sharpness and enjoy them later in life. The affordability is the next big factor why this phone has become a hot-sale these days. However, if Intex had shown a little big heartiness by fitting 1GB of RAM then there could have been nothing to complain.
