Good Quality HD Projectors In Indian Market

Optoma HD26 Projector Review Specifications Price Online in India

ViewSonic PRO8520HD Projector

A couple of weeks ago someone asked me to do a review on the ViewSonic PRO8520HD Projector. This premium-line advanced projector is available at a price of 159740 rupees and has attracted the premium strata of the market. It took quite a while for me to do an in-depth research on this product. I do not want to spoil anything in the introduction so let us just dive into the details.

Nice and Attractive Build: I have to admit that the projector is impressive as far as the built quality of the outer shell is concerned. It offers nice contoured vents on the sides that allow the hot air to pass through easily. The IR receiver is located at a distance from the lens, so you will not find any difficulty in controlling it via the remote. It also features an elevate button to use in case of table-top installation. The worst thing is manufacturer has failed to equip it with a lens shift mechanism.

Great Picture Quality

This ViewSonic device will suit the needs of both gamers and movie watchers. It offers a low response time and generates natural colors. The generated projection can achieve a brightness level of 5000 lumens, which I think is highest in this category.

However, there is a big catch here. I did not find any reason to spend a lot of money on this projector when an 80,000-rupee device can offer the same features. Unfortunately, the ViewSonic PRO8520HD even fails to generate 3D footage.

Amazing Connectivity Options: The manufacturer has offered a plethora of connectivity options on this projector. It comes with two VGA and two HDMI ports. You also get a full-size USB port that can be used to directly connect a thumb drive or an external flash drive. The projector features an LAN port to a network wirelessly. Users get the option to stream the media stored on their smartphones using a dedicated application.

Pros Features:

  • Generates life like footage
  • Bright projection
  • Good for gaming as well as movie watching
  • Great connectivity options

Cons: No 3D

Verdict: In my opinion, this device suits the needs of offices and auditoriums more than the needs of individuals. However, many quality projectors out there, which also offer 3D functionality at much less price.

BenQ W1070 Projector

Television screens have traveled a long way, but they are not far enough yet. To get a cinema grade experience with a home theater system, people still depend on projectors. The greatest benefit of using a projector is that users can change its screen size. And, with improving technology the picture quality of these types of devices is getting improved day by day.

You do not need to spend huge money to get a quality projector for a home theater system. The BenQ W1070 Projector that was launched about a few years ago is still a viable option go for. It is available in the market with a price tag of 78990 rupees. This amount might sound too much for a projector, but is actually quite less when compared with a display has equivalent features.

Native 1080P Resolution: It is one of the cheapest projectors available in the market to offer a capacity to generate full HD resolution pictures. Moreover, it is also capable of throwing a screen more than 200 inches wide (diagonally). There is no manufacturer in the world that offers such wide display panel at this price point.

3D Capable: The greatest benefit of having this projector at home is that you will be able to watch 3D videos and play 3D games on it. At the native 1080p resolution, it offers a refresh rate of 24 frames per second, which is great for watching movies. For gaming, you will need to reduce the resolution because in 720p mode the refresh rate jumps to a whopping 60 fps (per eye).

Single Chip DLP Technology: Long hail the modern DLP technology that has pushed the standard LCD projectors out of the competition. This technology not only improves the contrast ratio but also helps in generating vibrant colors. In the case of this project, the total number of individual colors that can be produced is 1.07 billion and that also in 30-bit format.

Another interesting thing is that the budget device generates super bright images on the wall or screen. In standard mode, the brightness can reach up to 2000 lumens maintaining a contrast ratio of 10000:1.

Inbuilt Power Saver

High power consumption has been a trademark of projectors since the time immemorial. However, the use of DLP technology on this BenQ projector is making lots of difference here. Under normal circumstances, it consumes about 240 Watts of power, which is not so impressive. Still we appreciate considering how bright the images are produced on it. If you are worried about the power bill, then be sure to check out the SmartEco mode that it offers.

Great Design: This projector does not look very attractive due poor designing of its outer shell, however, its build quality is sturdy. You get the option to install it either to a ceiling or on a table. Here, more surprising is the fact that it allows for vertical lens adjustment.

Decent Connectivity Options: On the back of the device, you will find a pair of two HDMI ports, which is a really great thing for people who like to connect displays to two devices. Users are also getting a standard VGA port and other legacy ports.

Pros Features:

  • Uses DLP technology to process data
  • Offers super high contrast ratio
  • Generates accurate colors
  • Compact and user-friendly design
  • Adjustable lens
  • Comes with an inbuilt speaker
  • Capable of generating 3D footage
  • Full HD native resolution

  • Users can face frequent gradation problem

Verdict: Considering the price point, this BenQ device seems to be a great deal. If your budget is tight and picture quality is a top priority, then do not miss this chance. However, the customers will also have to spend extra money for the 3D glasses, which will not come cheap.

Optoma HD26 Projector with 3D Feature

The Global position of the brand Optoma has been strengthening because of popular demand of its brand new projector HD26. You can purchase this projector device for as low as 77476 rupees in the Indian market. Even at this price point, it offers 3D functionality, which is remarkable.

Furthermore, The Optoma HD26 projector has gained a following by offering so many features at a price point so attractive (less than 80000 rupees). However, we believe just mere a list of many features cannot make a product good to buy. Therefore, we will discuss here all its features in a detail.

Super-Bright Bulb: The bulb of this projector that generates all the colors behind the scenes can get as bright as 3200 lumens, which is a huge number. In contrast, the BenQ W1070, which is another budget-friendly projector, generates a brightness equivalent of only 2000 lumens. This all results in a footage that comes alive and gives premium experience to the users.

High-Resolution Footage But With A Catch: It is a DLP technology based projector and generates a native footage of full HD resolution i.e. 1920 X 1080 pixels. The 3D functionality allows the users to enjoy media at the full capacity. However, in case you have connected a CPU, the footage will not offer three dimensions unless a compatible GPU is installed.

The manufacturer promises natural and high color gamut, but that claim does not convert into reality. The color plate inside the device suppresses green colors because of which the whole image looks cheap. Thanks to the calibration settings that allow the user to improve the situation and make the projected footage watchable.

Durable Outer Shell

You get multiple color options to choose from. This will help customers in customizing the whole setup. The built materials used in the making are of impressive quality. I did not find its outer shell to be flexing from any side. In addition, proper ventilation on the sides helps the circuitry to dissipate heat at a fast rate. One thing that really impressed my performance test team member was the low level of noise that it produces during the operation.

As a word of caution, I want to tell all the potential customers that the HD projector is not a good solution for a professional presentation. It is not a short-throw projector. It is only good for setting up a home theater system.

Low Power Consumption: Surprisingly, this projector only consumes about 190 Watts of power, which much lesser than what other projectors belong to the same price segment require. Further, I suggest using the bulb at a low brightness setting as this trick will not only save more power but also increase the durability of the projector itself.

Pros Features:

  • Comes in a strong outer shell
  • Remote features a powerful back-lighting system
  • Attractive finish
  • Generates less noise
  • Offers a special power saving mode
  • Color calibration can be modified
  • Decent connectivity options
  • Works on Digital Light Processing technology
  • Capable of producing 3D footage
  • 1080p compatible

  • Bad color reproduction
  • Does not offer a lot of adjustment

Verdict: The brand Optoma has a done a nice job of offering some top of the line features at a budget price. The best thing is that it is 3D compatible. However, I would urge you to have a random look at the alternatives available in the market.
