The smartphone market was stable during Nokia’s dominance. However, the initiation of a dedicated, highly qualified, and customizable operating system that is Android has changed the rules of competition. In fact, for the first, it is neither about post-sales service nor about a brand name rather it is all about product quality and features.
We have selected four most advanced devices that compete with the rated flash ships of premium brands but are in common man’s reach due to sensible pricing.
OnePlus 3 @ 28000 Rupees
The story of OnePlus brand is filled with success only. With a total of four blockbuster launches so far, this brand is right with its tagline “flash ship killer”. All the four devices were priced according to their features and thus sold greatly worldwide especially in Bharat.
The successor of OnePlus “One” and “Two” is OnePlus Three. The 2016 flash ship Killer from OnePlus comes in a full metal (aluminum) body design. It is very sturdy, very smooth, and has unbelievable 7.3 mm of body thickness. it weighs 158 gram.
At the front side, it sports a 5.5 inch full HD AMOLED display and has impressive 72.94% screen to body ratio. Inside the phone, in the CPU section, the latest processor of Snapdragon 820 is on driver sheet allowed to drive the best in class six-lane pathways that is 6GB RAM. Store a large quantity of data in its 64GB internal storage wherein at least 50GB memory somehow is going to be free for the end users.
For DSRL-type quality, the16MP senior camera has the backing of Exmor-RS CMOS sensor. To attract Professional photographers, OnePlus boosted the camera application with ISO control, digital image stabilization, and 4K recording. Front Camera of this Phone is an 8MP gem.
If you ask me, I will hesitate in buying this smartphone and that is because of its 3000 mAh. Even the enhancement of fast charging, 3000 mAH battery may die out at much faster rate because of the high power processor running in the background.
In the connectivity section, the phone owns all those options that flagship devices have. USB-C, NFC, GPS, Indian 4G LTE support, and dual-SIM are more than sufficient. However, some users might complain the absent HDMI connectivity on it.
The list of sensors in OnePlus 3 is impressive: all those necessary sensors are present to make this device smart in gaming, multimedia, and professional activities.
Fingerprint sensor is not a special feature anymore. Still, it is the best security solution currently for preventing unauthorized access to your phone. The placement of fingerprint scanner is on the front side of this OnePlus champion.
Oppo F1 @ 15750 Rupees
Totally reverse to the OnePlus success- one can learn from Oppo how to start a failed smartphone company by terrible pricing. Thus, I am really surprised to notice just 15000 rupees price of an Oppo device. There was a time when with 2000 mAh battery and 2GB RAM, Oppo smartphones were available for not less 20000 rupees.
F1 became available in Bharat in the beginning of this year and now selling like chocolate cake. This is a dual SIM device supports 3G on both SIMs and 4G one SIM. Just 7.2 mm thick, its weight is 134 gram, and thus it becomes one of the lightest smartphones in the Indian market.
The 5 inch IPS LCD display offers good experience through HD resolution and appropriate 294 PPI. In terms of screen-to-body, its 67.50% score is below the market standard. Corning Gorilla Glass four protections on the screen deserve a better rating of it.
Oppo F1 dons Snapdragon 616 processor and has made some powerful assistance available to it for better end user experience. My device, too, has similar CPU architecture so I sure that the phone with the 64bit architecture will never disappoint in multitasking.
In 16000 rupees, I have to admit it comes with advanced memory management. Oppo F1 features USB OTG in addition to 3GB RAM, and 16GB internal, and up to 128 GB microSD card support.
The 13MP camera of this phone comes with some advanced features of DSLR cameras and assisted by highly reputed CMOS image sensor for better clicks. Yes, you can record Full HD video from Oppo F1. The front camera lists 8MP sensor and takes decent selfies as well.
Seriously, the logic behind a powerless battery on a highly qualified device is out of my understanding. 2500 mAh battery is the most stupid feature of this phone. Moreover, no power enhancement feature is given to compensate the week battery. This takes me back to my first point: I do not think with this attitude this Chinese startup will last longer in the market.
LeEco Le Max 2 @ 29990 Rupees
Indian Journey of this Chinese magnet has been impressive so far. The second generation device of LeEco, the Le Max two is soon going to be up for sales. One can grab it at the expected price of 30000 rupees.
This all-metal body phone has all such features to justify its price. In fact, at 30000 rupees, in terms of features, it is a direct challenge to OnePlus Three of Amazon from Flipkart. It also has 6GB RAM, Snapdragon 820 processor, and 4K recording capabilities. LeEco has the reputation for making “smartphone with better camera”.
In fact, LeEco had also advanced the LeEco Eco with 4K recording, which we recently reviewed as one of the most impressive devices for gaming below 10000 rupees.
In the software section, the Le Max two features Android Marshmallow with a custom UI named EUI 5.8. Apparently, LeEco devices have been rated low for poor management of user interface. Thus, in the new device, it is much expected that some more smoothness will be brought in the user interface.
This is a dual SIM device support Indian 4G LTE network on both SIMs. Here, SIM ports are designed to accept the nano-size SIM.
Slightly bigger than OnePlus 3, 3100 mAH lithium polymer battery of Le Max2 supports quick charging as well. You will get a fast charger in the sales box that could fill three hours of use capacity in less than 10 minutes.
185 grams weight of this 2016 device might disappoint some users but its 7.9mm of thickness is exciting.
Let me jump to its screen as all excitement is expected there only. 5.7 inches, a big screen could easily reduce the need for a tablet as well as a laptop to a certain degree.
The display type is LCD bears a resolution of 1440×2560 Pixels with the pixel density of 515PPI: this is the best screen so far in 30000 rupees. In order to save battery fuel, I would rather not in favor of having high pixel density since anything above 294PPI is just meaningless for human eyes. Nevertheless, users experience in watching movies and seeing images is expected to touch a new height with this unbelievable, brilliant screen.
73.44% screen-to-body ratio adds an extra point for LeEco brand for the brilliant design to this all-metal phone wherein the users get most. In fact, its screen-to-body ratio is better than the OnePlus device.
For a fiery performance during gaming, multimedia consumption or some professional activity, LeEco Max 2 comes with the most advanced CPU architecture till date, which is, by the way, a 64-bit arc as well. Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, which is not one chip rather a wild combination of two dual-core chips – first is optimized for 2.15GHz clock speed and second, is optimized for 1.59 GHz clock speed- together is much more powerful than the processor in my recent HP laptop. The graphic processor responsible for multimedia content processing is here Adreno 530.
My new laptop has 4GB RAM, but on this LeEco device, users will experience the power of 6GB RAM. In a processor-based device, RAM is as important as the processor. In fact, a slightly weaker processor with a big size RAM may work better than a smaller-size RAM with a powerful processor.
Similar to OnePlus 3, the internal memory of this LeEco device is 64GB, and it lacks microSD card support, too.
I won’t be wrong in saying the brand LeEco should be credited for revolutionizing the camera features of the medium budget smartphone. It was the first brand to introduce 4K recording feature in a 10000 rupees device.
LeEco endeavor for “better camera in smartphones” is continuing with Le Max two as well. The primary camera is a 21MP sensor assisted by a highly reputed Sony’s Exmor sensor. Advanced photography is possible because of some features that are directly taken from digital cameras. The digital camera features on this phone are Optical image stabilization, dual-tone LED flash, ISO control, digital zoom, phase detection, and 4K recording at 30 fps and HD recording at 120 fps. Any recorded video by this device could also be used for production purpose.
Planning to get married- then choose this flash ship killer. Actually, it is not feasible to have a camera every time with you to secure evidence of golden moments. Somehow this phone will last for about two years. In that duration, you will go through some important phase of life like engagement, marriage, honeymoon, and perhaps a baby, too. This smartphone device will act as a professional camera to capture those priceless movements of your life.
The rest features of LeEco Le Max two is similar to OnePlus three. Thus, the obvious question comes here is – which one is best – LeEco device or OnePlus device. My vote goes to LeEco, but this should not be a binding opinion for you to consider. Share your thoughts here and guide other friends on – LeEco Max 2 or OnePlus 3.

Coolpad Note 3 phones were a big success in the Indian market. There are many users of this phone (including Note 3 Lite) in my contact list. In fact, they are proud owners of the model because of my recommendation.
The huge success of Coolpad Note 3 phones could be measured in two good reasons: first, in term of impressive build quality and reliance performance, and second, sensible pricing.
As most smartphone manufacturers do, Coolpad Max, too, is trying to make better margin per sale with this brand new all-metal body device, which has been getting decent responses despite 25000 rupees price.
Most of the features of Coolpad Max are similar to what I have discussed above for OnePlus 3 and LeEco Max 2. Some noticeable difference is in its CPU section. For reliable performance all the time there is the rare combination of Snapdragon 617 processor, Adreno GPU, and 4GB RAM in its CPU. Its internal memory is also 64GB, but has a microSD slot, too, for adding extra space via a MicroSD card.
Further, excellent camera performance by Note 3 phones gives me confidence that users may get excelled performance from 13MP primary and 5MP selfie of this phone. Highlights of the main camera are CMOS sensor, FHD recording capability, dual-LED flash support, and digital image stabilization feature.
2800 mAh battery is made faster in charging but the power input source is microUSB, not USB-type C. Thus, battery fueling up on Coolpad Max will be much slower than the two 30000 rupees phones discussed above.
Indian 4G LTE network support, dual-SIM, sensors for improving gaming & multimedia experience, and other handy features are also present on this device. In terms of features, users will not have too many complaints with it.
