Cool Basic Mobile Phones in 900 to 1400 Rupees

Lava KKT Curve

Intex Eco Sport

Low-budget feature phone segment is quite infamous for bad build quality and limited features. The good thing is Intex has taken an initiative to offer customers with some decent options. Its Eco Sport is one of the few good quality budget feature phones one can buy right now. Currently, this device sells for around 890 rupees.

Impressive Looks and Durable Build

Black finish of the outer shell gives a great appeal to the whole setup. Its patterned back panel feels good in the hand and also offers a strong grip.

The Eco Sport features a 1.8-inch color display with a resolution of 128 X 160 pixels, which is not bad considering the price point.

Perfect For Music Listening

If you love to listen to music then this feature phone will prove to be a great platform. It has an onboard media player and supports microSD card with up to 32GB storage.

Bluetooth 2.1 will allow users to transfer files without any hassle of cable connection. GPRS connectivity is another feature of the Eco Sport. It also comes with other features like FM Radio, Torch, Mobile Tracker, and Auto Call Recording.

On the back, it features a VGA camera, though the quality of shots will not be that good. One special feature this camera is users can use it as a webcam after making a PC connection.

Average Battery Life

Intex has equipped this phone with a small 800-mAh battery. It offers around 7 hours of power backup, which is decent but not as good as other phones of the same price segment offer. These days you can easily get features phones with more than two weeks of power backup under 1000 rupees.

Good For:

  • MicroSD card slot
  • Camera with webcam feature
  • Bluetooth, microUSB port, and GPRS
  • Mobile Tracker
  • Powerful speaker on the back
  • Dual SIM

Bad For:

  • Limited screen resolution
  • Average battery
Price 925 Rupees
Screen 1.8 Inch; 128×160 Pixels
Battery 800 mAh
Camera 0.3 mAh

Edge E77 Dual SIM Mobile Phone

Edge is an unpopular mobile phone manufacturer in India. In fact, I was not able to find even its website on the internet. The Edge E77 is listed on online malls for around 1000 rupees. It is not a highly attractive phone but you will get some cool features.

Classic Design

People who have used the smartphones of last decade will find the design of this Edge phone quite familiar. It comes in a bulky outer shell with big buttons below the screen. As per my opinion, the E77 looks very similar to some N series smartphones Nokia used to sell 6 to 7 years ago.

Build quality of this device is a little disappointing. The manufacturer has made it with cheap quality materials.

Vibrant Display

The E77 flaunts a really big 2.4-inch display and generates vibrant colors. It offers a resolution of 240 X 320 pixels. Text and graphics appear to be crispy. The theme this phone uses by default (you cannot change it) is easy to understand and browse through.

The 0.3 MP rear camera of this phone allows users to capture images with 640 X 480 pixels size. Although this resolution will not prove to be impressive for someone who uses modern smartphones but we should appreciate the manufacturer for at least offering a camera module on such a low price phone. It also comes with built-in LED Flash to help users take images in dark situations.

1500 mAh Massive Battery

Under the back panel, the Edge phone features a big 1500 mAh battery. You will easily get 3 to 4 days of usage on a single charge. Thus, this device is perfect for people who live in remote areas where power supply is limited.

There are two SIM slots on the E77 and it even offers 2G internet. Users will also be able to play media files with formats like MP4, MP3, and 3GP on it. Some preloaded apps like Calculator, Stopwatch, and Calendar enhance the user experience.

The phone is capable of playing FM Radio without a headphone because it flaunts built-in antenna.

Good For:

  • Classic design
  • WAP support
  • Wireless FM
  • Big and high-resolution screen
  • Long battery life
  • Great for media consumption
  • 512 MB of internal memory (expandable up to 32 GB)
  • Bluetooth connectivity

Bad For:

  • Below average build quality
  • Only comes in black color
Price 1000 Rupees
Screen 2.4 Inch; 240×320 Pixels
Battery 1500 mAh
Camera 0.3 mAh with LED Flash and Digital Zoom
Feature Wireless FM, Mobile Tracker, 3GP& MP4 Media Player, Torch, Auto Call Recording

Micromax X717

Micromax may be a highly criticized brand in the smartphone world but when it comes to feature phones, no other manufacturer can beat it. Its X717 is available in the market for an amount of 1399 rupees. The features this device offers are hardly available on other budget alternatives.

Lasts For Weeks On A Single Charge

The X717 comes loaded with a massive 1800 mAh battery. Once fully charged, it will deliver power backup of at least 10 days (if not more). I would like to point out though this battery takes quite a bit of time to charge as the phone does not support fast charging.

Micromax X717 Review and Specifications

Great User Experience

You get a 2.8-inch display on the front of this device with a resolution of 240 X 320 pixels. I cannot recommend a better platform for watching videos in this segment. Moreover, the X717 offers GPRS connectivity and thus allows users to download music and other files from the internet.

The device has 56 MB of RAM for giving a smooth experience. Customers can find a complimentary 0.3 MP camera on the back (I am saying complimentary because a VGA camera will not be of much use). Extra features like FM Radio, Calendar, Stopwatch, and World Clock are also onboard.

Micromax has provided a microSD card slot on this feature phone but the storage is expandable up to 4GB only.

Cool Design

I am sure customers will fall in love with the design of the X717. It sports a pitch-black front panel with tactile buttons. The outer shell has curved corners for better usability. Silver color Micromax branding on the rear gives a premium feel.

Good For:

  • 8-inch screen
  • Onboard media player
  • Torch/Flashlight
  • Eye-catching design
  • Long lasting battery

Bad For:

  • Does not support microSD cards with storage of more than 4GB
Price 1400 Rupees
Screen 2.8 Inch; TFT, 143PPI, 240×320 Pixels
Battery 1800 mAh Li-ion
Camera 0.3 mAh with LED Flash and Digital Zoom
Feature FM, Games, Bluetooth, Media Player, Alarm, World Clock, Music Ringtones

Lava KKT Curve

From the last couple of years, Lava is struggling in the market, though it has not lost hopes. Recently, the brand came up with a really attractive KKT Curve feature phone, which is now selling at the price of just 1219 rupees.

Cute Design

The Lava KKT Curve is the cutest feature phone available out there. It has a curvy back and front panel. The manufacturer has used high-quality and premium looking materials for making this phone.

Its buttons come with laminated prints. The main benefit of these prints is they will not erode over time. Although this phone does not sport a metallic body but still Lava has tried to equip it with chamfered edges using shiny plastic.

A bright 2.8-inch screen sits on the front. Impressive 167 PPI helps in making the texts appear sharper. UI of the phone is minimalistic and supports few Indian languages also.

Lava KKT Curve

Impressive Camera

The KKT Curve is the only phone in this list that comes with a 1.3 MP camera. Image quality turns out to be really impressive. In low lighting conditions though this phone suffers a lot and even the inbuilt flash fails to enhance details of an image.

Onboard memory of this phone is expandable up to a whopping 32GB, which is just amazing. It also features a 3.5mm audio jack on the bottom for people who love music.

Supports GPRS

On this Lava feature phone, users can browse their favorite website using the preloaded browser and GPRS connectivity. One can use Bluetooth and microUSB port for sharing files with other devices.

The one thing that makes this device unique is it comes with built-in games. This is something many manufacturers do not offer in the feature phone market.

Battery life on the KKT Curve is pretty good. A full charge easily lasts for around a week at least.

Good For:

  • Mind blowing design and build
  • Comes in multiple colors
  • Preloaded games
  • High-resolution camera
  • Bright and vibrant display
  • FM Radio
  • Internet
  • Comes with all the extra features a customer normally expects including stopwatch, calculator, alarm, etc

Bad For:

  • Battery takes time to charge
Price 1200 Rupees
Screen 2.4 Inch; TFT, 167PPI, 240×320 Pixels
Battery 1800 mAh Li-ion
Camera 1.3 mAh; 1280×1024 Pixels, Digital Zoom
Feature FM with Recording, Games, Bluetooth, Media Player, Alarm, Browser, Music Ringtones
