Lenovo K4 Note
The brand new K4 Note is the successor of the popular K3 Note and it sports the same display size, which is 5.5 inch. The phone is well-built feels solid to hold in the hand. For a price of just 12000 rupees, it comes with some top-notch hardware and the latest Android operating system.
Fingerprint sensor ID, 3GB RAM, MediaTek Octa-core processor, and 3300 mAh battery are some exclusive features on this monster device. It also performs well on the camera front shoots 4K videos, excellent shots in artificial light as well as cool selfie to get more likes on social media.
Lenovo also offers a VR headset with this smartphone. To take the offer you need to pay 500 rupees extra, which seems to be a worthy deal. Buying a VR set in the open market will cost you MRP in India 1299 rupees.
In The Box: Smartphone, USB Cable, Power Adaptor, Cover and Screen guard
VIBE User Interface
The new K4 Note runs on Android lollipop 5.1 and has the VIBE user interface on top. With each successive smartphone, Lenovo has been improving and simplifying the UI by making it lite, which demands fewer resources in daily use. Thanks to the VIBE user interface, interaction with K4 Note is pleasant.
Built and Design: Influenced by Motorola’s premium design line, the Lenovo K4 Note comes with superb built and exciting outlook. Its gross weight is 160 grams and the thickness stands at 9.15 mm. Nowadays the trend is for slimmer gadget, but in order to bring so many feature in one device, at least, we have to sacrifice with weight and thickness. Certainly, the K4 Note feels nice to hold in hand as well as easier to carry in a pocket.
Fingerprint ID placement mimics new Google nexus smartphone, which is in my opinion, a perfect placement. You get fingerprint sensor ID just underneath the primary camera on the back, which also has a soft matt finish for a neat feel in the hand.
The front houses 5MP shooter, few sensors, and three capacitive hardware buttons. Further, volume rocker and the power button is at the right edge whereas the left edge remains vacant. 3.5 mm Headphone jack goes to the top and mini USB 2.0 finds shelter at the bottom. There are stereo speakers up front boosted with Dolby ATMOS technology.
Dual SIM and 4G LTE network Support
This is a dual SIM smartphone with hybrid SIM slot. Here, the micro SIM slot doubles as a MicroSD card slot. Both SIM supports Indian 4G LTE network, 3G, 2G and certainly 1G. Besides this, the K4 Note also comes with NFC and OTA sync support.
Lithium-Polymer Non-Removable Battery: 3300 mAh battery on the back of this phone is sufficient to hold it in active mode for a day at least on heavy usages. In addition, it does support fast charging.
MediaTek Processor Performance
A comparison between K4 and K3 note is obvious. Even with an increased price tag, processor strength on the K4 Note is reduced. A MediaTek Octa-core processor powers the CPU for glitch free multitasking and mediocre gaming.
The Mali-T720 MP3 graphic processor works side-by-side with 3GB RAM and the processor unit. Without a doubt, the phone is responsive and offers fluid performance in daily use.
Gaming with K4 Note: So many luxury features on this phone ensure you get full enjoyment while gaming. However, playing hard games like Asphalt or Gangster is not a cup of tea for this device. Its response is terrible while playing heavy action and racing games. However, it does not get warm even when hours of gaming or productive multitasking.
13MP 5MP FHD Recording : Not very fast still, I have to agree the rear shooter can take good pictures even in low light ambiance. Final image output comes with vivid color and balanced background details, which is also great in terms of color accuracy. Use HDR mode in low light to register excellent clicks. In fact, we were highly impressed with the HDR mode feature, which generally works well in India especially in village side suffer frequent power cut The selfie shooter, which is a 5MP camera also does pretty good job.
Memory: If 10GB free media memory (16GB installed) is not sufficient for you, then use a MicroSD card to expand memory onboard 128GB more. The phone also supports USB OTG storage.
Just to add here, the phone does not have a dedicated microSD card slot, which means it can in either arrangement – one SIM card & one microSD card or two SIM cards.
Benchmark Score: One thing is for sure that the Lenovo device is a paisa vasool smartphone. Although I do not believe in rating scores still on user’s demand. For the K4 Note, scores are
- AnTuTu – 38000
- Geekbench – Single Core 614, Multicore 2621
- NenaMark2 – 56.2 fps
Lenovo K4 Note vs. LeEco 1S

The Chinese company LeEco has really nailed it with the pricing of the affordable Le 1S. It is a premium built device at a pocket-friendly MRP of 10999 rupees. The phone houses the best hardware one cannot dream about in the 15000 rupees price bracket. Built & Design: The body is all metal comes in a sturdy built and superb design. All buttons are in metal but have a great tactile response. Because of Chamfered edges at top and button, single-hand usages is pleasant. Add about 170 grams with 3000 mAh battery and just 7.5mm thickness, the Le 1S does feel a bit heavier in the hand. However, this sacrifice is worthy as you are getting a metal body device.
Top of the LeEco 1S houses audio jack, antenna, and the IR blaster. Moving to the right, it hosts SIM card slot to adjust two SIM– one nano and one micro in size. Speaker module, USB-C type port, and primary microphone all are placed at the bottom of the phone. 13MP primary camera with single LED flash and fingerprint sensor ID sensor finds a place on the back of this phone.
The rear of the Le 1S comes with mirror finish, which is scratch resistant, too. The front is dominated by a full HD 5.5-inch display with very narrow bezels. 5MP selfie camera, sensors, and an LED notification are listed on the top. Further, capacitive buttons, which do light up in low light are placed at the bottom of the front panel.
Software User Interface and Operating System
The phone runs a customer user interface based on the latest version of Android Lollipop 5. You get widgets support, built-in apps, custom themes, and few essential tweak to enhance the end user’s experience.
Most of the custom UI based on Android is pretty much the same. However, in this LeEco UI, most destine is the control center, which houses apps list, all toggles, brightness slider everything along with shortcuts. In some areas of setting, the LeEco 1S has used concept design drawn from Apple for a better presentation.
FHD 5.5-inch Bright IPS Display: The LeEco 1S sports a fine 5.5 inches IPS LCD display with FHD resolution wherein pixel density ratio stands at 401 PPI. Viewing angles are brilliant on the display. In terms of protection, the phone is bit low trusts corning gorilla glass 3 instead of the latest version Corning glass 4. The display brightness is not the best yet keeps everything visible even in harsh sunlight.
13MP Camera 5MP Selfie Shooter : The primary shooter is fast with ISO-Cell sensor and a face detection sensor. This is a smart device with a great camera application does not lag even with never ending image & video shoot. It can shoot images at very fast speed.
How well hardware of a device will performance largely depend on the operational software. Camera interface of the LeEco 1S is very simple so that even a beginner can take good shots. There are only a few modes, but some advance filter option makes work going. The LeEco 1S is a medium budget smartphone, but it can record 4K video at impressive 30 frames per second.
The rear shooter camera captures images in excellent quality. Output from the camera application keeps real color accurately with a good amount of background details. One of the signature features of the camera is it can focus really in that too very quickly.
The 5MP selfie shooter with a wide-angle lens is also decent in terms of control and output result. In fact, the phone turns out to be a great choice for a group or family selfie.
MicroSD card Support and Internal Memory
The user of LeEco 1S has to manage with 32GB onboard storage wherein approx 25GB remains free. Yes, it does not come with a MicroSD card slot. Although it does not affect performance but I am shocked that out of 3GB, only 1GB RAM remains free for the end user.
IR Bluster: Among many luxury features on the 1S, the IR blaster is one, which makes life convenient by allowing you to control other gadgets in the home. It can be setup to control TV, radio, boom box and several other home appliances including microwaves and ACs. You will get an app (pre-installed) on this phone, which requires minimum setting to come in action.
Finger Print Sensor: In order to secure access, the fingerprint feature is another great luxury on this phone. Indeed, it works well. With 360-degree recognition, it is fast and one easiest way to ensure secure access in this phone.
Additional Cool Features : There are plenty features on board most of them are simple in use and quite effective in day-to-day usages. Certainly the LeEco 1S has given a big lift in terms of quality and productivity in the mid-range smartphone segment. I really enjoyed testing micro features of this phone. For instance, the UI can recognize in which hand the device is held and slides entire access control to the side.
Performance: Overall performance of the LeEco 1S is mind-blowing. Its user interface is smooth and web browser experience too is superb thanks to ultra-fast pinch-to-zoom. During testing, we did not experience any lag or frame drop, even many bulky applications were running in the background.
