Xolo Play 8X 1020

To keep up with growing demand of premium smartphones under 10000 rupees budget, XOLO's introduction 8X 1020 comes with good battery backup and better camera performance. Though the smartphone isn’t extra ordinary or has an element of surprise, but owns a good position under the 10000 rupees budget category for better hardware and software optimization.

This is a octa core smartphone with upgradable operating software from Android Kitkat to Android Lollipop. It sports a 5 inches display with HD resolution on IPS LCD frame work whereas pixel density is usual 293 PPI. Viewing angle is great and capacitive touch panel is quite responsive.

The Xolo India has powered the device with a MediaTek Octa core processor wherein each core blinks at the speed of 1.4 GHz. In terms of memory hardware, the 8X 1020 is locked with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB on board memory. Memory expansion is possible upto 32 GB with a MicroSD card. The first boot of device gives 564 MB of free RAM and upto 5.5 GB of free memory space for end users. In terms of processing, there is absolute NIL lag and zero dull response. This is a quite a good and decent performing smartphone of XOLO India.

Xolo Play 8X 1020

The Indian premium smartphone brand XOLO has stick to its usual trick to get the best of smartphone camera. Like any other smartphone of XOLO, the 8X 1020 comes with a power LED flash and Exmor R sensor for better photography. There is an induction 8MP primary and 5MP front facing camera. Both camera performs well in natural circumstance. In my opinion, the 8X 1020 is blessed with a good pair of camera. There are some usual camera features such as HDR, Panorama, face recognition, burst shot, smile shot and low light enhancement etc, for end user hands on. Having a 5MP front facing camera makes it a good choice for selfie lovers.

According to the official listed information, the 2500 mAh battery in the phone delivers approx 17 hours of talk time and 700 hours of standby on the active 3G network. Battery backup is good and lasts for almost one and half days on medium usages. Lite usages can go up to two days. However, playing of games can suck up battery quickly. Avoid long hours of gaming for good battery backup and user battery doctor to optimize internal apps setting for long battery life.

In totality, this is a good budget smartphone with good processor, camera, touch, display and built quality. I would recommend the smartphone at the current price of 9700 online price at e-shopping websites.

I have been regularly asked by reader on manufacturing details of Panasonic smartphones. Unfortunately, like any other smartphone including iPhone, Panasonic smartphones are made in some Chinese factories. Though designing of phones are taking place in its Japanese lab. The Panasonic is well-established company in India – announced to make smartphones in Indian factory under the Central government “MAKE IN INDIA” initiative.

Coming to the specifications of the smartphone, the Eluga I sports a 5 inches HD display wherein pixel density stands at 294 PPI. Viewing angle is good, colour comes out nicely and images look sharp and natural. For me, sunlight readability is a concern, should be noticed readers. The device runs on Android Kitkat 4.4.2 and Upgradable to 4.4.4. Panasonic hasn’t release any info on the Android Lollipop roll out.

Panasonic Eluga I

You will love this phone because of its interactive and lightweight custom UI over the running Android operating system. Smart SWIPE is one feature to consider under the pros list of the phone. This is a light weight UI runs smoothly works towards enhancing user experience for “one hand operation”.

The Eluga I dons a quad core MediaTek processor, which registers a 1.3 GHz of clock speed for each core. There is a one GB RAM and 8 GB of flash memory. Memory expansion is supported upto 32 GB with the help of a microSD card. I had good experience in operating the smartphone that is without lag and application crash. Basic operation, apps navigation, arcade games playing are some usual tasks can be executed without noticing any lag.

The Eluga I comes with the latest Panasonic camera technology in pair of a 13MP primary facing camera and a 5MP front facing camera. 1080P video recording is optimized with latest camera apps, auto Focus with LED flash. Daylight photography is quite impressive and HDR recording output can be used for professional production.

Under general usages such as calling, listing music or playing some arcade gaming takes the battery backup up to 24 hours on its 2000 mAh battery.

Panasonic has loaded the sales box with an interactive flip cover, screen guard and a fast charger. In general, a smartphone takes at least 2 and half hours to tinkle at 100%. However, the Eluga I could be able to absorb 100% of charging in just one hour and 52 minutes.

Though the Smartphone is little pricy compare to its competitor. But, I would still recommend it for iPhone type look, very good and friendly user interface, easy security, excellent camera pair and awesome calling quality. Just 2000 mAh battery is one big cons for me.

The name Hue is a bit illogical and doesn’t make sense with the concept and designing of the phone. Though it comes with a 5 inch Amoled HD display and 293 PPI pixel resolutions under the Gorilla Glass Three Protection. In my opinion, this is the best display phone from the Micromax. The display is real vivid and high brightness with wide viewing angle. Colour looks natural and content looks really sharp. I am really impressed with the display of the phone.

The Hue runs on customized Android Kitkat 4.4.2. Micromax initiated Android customization for the requirement of Super Power Mode and brings freshness for the end users. The device boots really fast thanks to proper customization of the OS and Hardware. Instead of apps gallery as seen in all Android powered smartphones, you will get no of homepages, which host all pre-installed applications. Typing keypad comes with swept key to make it more users friendly. The Hue offers customized Android Kitkat with responsive and really smooth touchpad. It supports to video calling and there is a tweak for audio enhancement, punched under the user list setting.

The Hue is powered by a 1.3 GHz MediaTek processor with Mali 400 MP2 GPU and 1 GB RAM. After first boot, the end users get a fair share of 556 MB free RAM space. There is a 8 GB Flash unified memory on board with share of 5.56 GB to the end users. Memory expansion is supported by a MicroSD card upto 32 GB. At AnTuTU benchmark, it has a good score of 17554.

The smartphone lists a 8MP primary camera and 2MP front focusing camera. Its primary camera can shoot 1080P or FHD video. Videography and photography is quite enjoyable experience due to better performance of both camera. Camera output registers good colour and details. Auto focus is really fast. There is 100s of feature listed under the camera hood in a customized list.

Micromax Hue is powered by a 3000 mAh battery, which should last for 11 days on active mode and 30 Days on Super Power Saver Mode. Let’s discuss about the new tool of Micromax called “Super Power Saver”. According to official website listed information, one full charge will last for 30 days in super power saver mode. The “Super Power Saver” application resets function of smartphone for low power consumption. Under the battery saving power mode, display turns colorless or grey colour, apps function gets limited and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned to OFF.

Along with the usual connectivity options, the Hue supports to OTG and Cast screen feature. Besides this, there is Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 6 types of sensor and 1080P video play supported with loud sound output from the main speaker.

I would recommend the Hue for “Something New” from the Micromax. Excellent Display, Latest Communication feature, Gaming Optimization, Super Power Saver Feature and Smooth performance are some noted Pros. Bulky size and inbuilt battery should be listed under the cons tab.

Though it doesn’t offer any touch protection and gets cover under excellent responsive touch panel.

The Obi smartphone runs on MediaTek quad core processor with core speed of 1.3 GHz and associated to 1GB RAM and 8 GB installed flash Memory for content storage. Processor and hardware optimization is excellent. I didn’t experience any lag or heating issue in my seven days of use. For gaming review, we had placed Asphalt 8. Despite having quad core MediaTek processor, we didn’t experience frame drop, heating or lag. Graphic looks awesome and speed is good. At the AnTuTU benchmark, the Obi Hornbill S551 earns 17652 score, which is fairly good considering its price under 10000 rupees.

There is a 13MP of primary and 5MP of front facing camera. Both camera perform is very good (4 out of 5). Indoor and Outdoor shooting is a good experience with quality output. If you are looking for a good camera phone under the 10 thousand rupees then the S551 should be considered.
