Top 4 Smartphones Under 10000 Rupees

Panasonic P55 Specifications

10000 Rupees is a standard budget for a smartphone, considering stiff competition shoring up between Chinese brands, Indian Brands, and the leader brands in smartphone business. While Samsung, LG, Apple and Sony don’t have offer under 10000 rupees, Chinese brands such as Alcatel, Lenovo, Huawei, Xiaomi has been taking leap especially in Indian smartphone market. Fortunately, Indian Brands are not losing race and has been forefront in giving neck to neck fight. Recent launch of Micromax YU Yureka shows the depth of Indian brand considering shaky and extremely volatile smartphone market. In today’s article, we are looking at some best and affordable smartphone under 10000 rupees budget. We have selected four smartphones from Alcatel, Panasonic, Lenovo, and the Premium Indian Smartphone brand XOLO.

Alcatel Onetouch Flash – Multi-function Device

I have hardly seen a smartphone with a list of complete product info in a sales unit. The Onetouch flash is made of plastic and have solid back panel with smooth texture. In terms of design, it looks a premium asset. The Onetouch has deep black screen and its back got slaty colour given an impression of the metal built.

The Onetouch has dual camera, which are a 13 MP primary and a 5 MP front facing camera. Its 13 MP rear camera is placed at the back along single LED flash and placement of a mic just above the camera lens. There is another mic, placed at the bottom of the device for noise cancellation and better audio transmission.

Alcatel Onetouch Flash 6042D Review and Specifications

At the front screen, it has a 5 MP front facing camera, sensors, call speaker and LED indicator placement at the top while three touch sensitive buttons are placed at the bottom. MicroSD card and the first SIM slot are present at the left side whereas the right side has power button, volume rocker and second SIM slot. To open these slots, you just need to press the dotted end to get other side pop up. Its sides are curvier and have no sharp edges. Back panel is non-removable.

The Onetouch Flash sports 5.5 inches HD display with full lamination, IPS Panel, and 5 fingers multi-touch. In the display, colour reproduction is good and touch is quite responsive. Its display has good viewing angle. Sunlight readability is an issue as like any other smartphone, but you won’t feel much due to good brightness level under the customized User Interface. In totality, the Onetouch Flash has good display. Moreover, it has support for Gesture and Double Tap options. The double tap feature works even the screen is off. Also, the display is supported to clear motion technology.

It is dual SIM smartphone runs on latest Android Kitkat 4.4.2. Both SIM ports are designed for Micro SIM and supported to 3G network connectivity. With Flip to Mute and standard calling options, the Onetouch flash offers native video calling. HotKnock, Antivirus AVG, Boom Band Life, BBM, Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter, Office suite, System Optimize, Clean Master are some other applications are preinstalled. We can reset the status bar to enable and disable notifications from third-party applications.

Also, it offers connectivity through HotKnot, Bluetooth 4, Wi-Fi, really fast GPS and USB 2.0. The device has some cool feature based on the concept of Wi-Fi. Audio Share – Connect with Wi-Fi enabled speaker to share audios. Multi screen interface to share your smartphone content on a Wi-Fi Enabled TV.

The Alcatel smartphone is packed with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB onboard memory. Memory expansion is possible up to 32 GB of a microSD card. Out of 1 GB RAM, an end user has a share of 438 MB. On insertion of MicroSD card, it becomes default memory for general and application storage. Out of 8 GB ROM, user gets share of 5 GB for personal usages.

The smartphone dons 1.4 GHz Octa Core MediaTek processor supported Mali 450 MP GPU. Processing is smooth and doesn’t show lag or hang issue. For gaming test, we had played Asphalt 8 and Modern combat 5. It shows minor lag at the start of Asphalt 8, but while playing of the Modern Combat 5, performance was very smooth. Alcatel Onetouch flash has the AnTuTU benchmark score of 26208. This is a good score.

It is packed with 3200 mAh battery, which turns out to be really good on moderate usages. For us, it lasted for 16 hours on heavy usages. However, you can save battery with my personal recommendation of Battery Doctor App and built-in power saving function. In totality, the OneTouch Flash is a good choice at current price of 10000 rupees.

Panasonic Eluga S – Best Selfie Smartphone

The Eluga S has a 7.9 mm thin design in unibody shell with leatherette stitched back similar to the Galaxy Note 3. Its slinky craft has layered sides wherein metallic finish above and nice soft matte finishing at down. In terms of design, it is an elegant piece of gadget. The device is comfortable in holding and easy operational by single hand. Its right edge shelters SIM card slot and screen button. At the top, we see a 3.5 mm audio jack option for headphone out. Its left edge hosts MicroSD card slot and Volume Button.

Panasonic Eluga S Review and Specifications

The Smartphone runs on Android Kitkat 4.4.2 and have no clarity from the Panasonic as far as Android Lollipop update is concerned. Panasonic is one of few smartphone companies, which have developed own User Interface. The Eluga S features “Fit Home” User Interface. It is a uniquely developed UI, which is basically a thumb flick interface indeed benefits users with easy navigation and access to the device. The user interface is designed for single hand use to get device customization and app setting. Just use your thumb to navigate the entire display. The UI comes with many feature including “double tap to sleep” and nine home screen limit.

The Eluga S has a 5 Inches IPS HD display with very good viewing angle and nice punchy colours. Even when it is tilted to extreme viewing angle, readability remains nice whereas Sunlight readability it not that bad. The display supports nature colours reproduction not over saturated. 5 Inches size is the best screen for a smartphone being palm and pocket friendly. You can play HD and FHD videos while multiple audio and video file formats are supported. I really like the nifty feature of the Eluga S wherein you just pop up the running video and do another task for example checking message, share comment on Whatsapp, or even chrome browser for internet search.

The Eluga S has “Fit Home” UI which supports Gesture play. Gesture Play technology is to secure the set of some symbol liked to particular applications in the phone. Whenever, the symbol is drawn on the screen, the linked application becomes active. To change the unlock symbol for display, go to security setting in screen option and prefer a new symbol to prohibit unauthorized access.

I want to emphasize on the built-in music player, which is a part of the “Fit Home” UI as well. With usual options of shuffle, repeat, next, previous, play and pause track, you got round seek or progress part. To go back to music album gallery, you click left or tap at the top for search of a song.

The Eluga S has a 5 MP best selfie front facing camera and an 8MP rear camera with FHD recording. Its rear camera is supported by powerful LED flash and auto focus. Camera UI is quite simple and have a couple of options, placed at the left. No lag or delay while it comes to tapping a photo or a video. Auto focus works very fast and the device takes instant photos and quick FHD Video. There is a couple of setting options to play around.

Let’s discuss about the best feature of the Eluga S. It is the “Blink Play”. You capture selfie by blinking eye. It is OK to use blink play while it is self selfie. What will happen, while you are focusing for group selfie? You can’t control everyone’s blinking eye. Seriously, I haven’t tried and got the thought just now while I am drafting the article. Share me your story on group selfie with the Eluga S. As far as the Blink Play feature is concerned, in my view it is the easiest way to use the front camera.

The Panasonic Eluga S dons 1.4 GHz Octa Core MediaTek processing alongside 1GB RAM and 8 GB ROM. It is packed with moderate 2100 mAh battery power. To test the performance, we had done some bench mark test. NenaMark2 test shows 60.6 fps, which is really good in terms of GPU capability. Geekbench 3 score is 366 for single core and 2048 for multi core. It is better than Moto G in terms of single core and better than Moto X and Samsung galaxy s4 in terms of multi core performance. At AnTuTU Benchmark, it is scoring 27983 which better than Xiaomi Redmi Note, HTC One, Xiaomi Mi2 and Asus Zenfone 5.

To check the gaming ability, we had played Temple Run 2 and Modern Combat 5. Temple Run 2 runs quite smoothly without showing any lag. While playing the Modern Combat 5 game, which is a high-end game, we experience minor lag at some situation. Whenever the player is hit by bullets or trying to position player, you will experience some stack in performance.

It is a good device for gamer with good graphic support to low and medium range games. You might experience minor lag while playing of high-end games. The Eluga S has fabulous front facing camera and multi tasking speed. Switching between apps is really quick without any lag. Animation, screen transitions response to touch is nice and even the entire user interface is versatile and user friendly.

XOLO Omega 5.0 with HIVE user interface

The Omega 5 is a new series of smartphone from XOLO India. It has curb design made of plastic with glossy finishing at back. Metallic silver rim runs all around the sides and give unique look. Volume rocker are present at left side. 3.5 mm audio jack and Micro USB port is placed at the top of the device whereas it has power button at the right side. The handset is sturdy, but heavy. At the top of front side, we see front facing camera, call speaker and Sensors while it lacks notification LED. At the rear, it has primary camera, LED flash and main speaker. In terms of overall built and design, it is identical to the Moto G. It has curb design, slightly wider and taller than some budget smartphones. That doesn’t matter since it sits in your palm and fits in your pocket easily. With battery its weight is 152 gram and has 10.5 mm thick built craft.

The Omega 5 sports a 5 inches IPS HD display with good viewing angle and 267 PPI pixel density. Display looks bright has vibrant colour output and sunlight legibility is moderate. Its touch is response and provides easy operation. At the current price of 8500 rupees, it is fairly a good display, but not the best as seen in the most of XOLO smartphones.

XOLO Omega 5

The smartphone runs on a latest Android Kitkat 4.4.2 and upgradable to Android Lollipop 5.0.1. It is one of few smartphone, which features HIVE User interface. The HIVE is the first Indian developed user interface with given importance to simplistic design, easy access to important features and notifications alert even in the case of locked screen. You can launch camera, messenger and other applications right from the locked screen.

XOLO’s HIVE interface divide apps in four groups – “Edges”, “Secure”, “Power” and “connect”. The Edges app group offers professionally designed themes, apps, ringtone, wallpapers and so on. The Secure group has anti theft feature and the Power set has power management tools and CPU resetting for low power consumption. The connect offers option to connect with HIVE developer team, concept sharing group, feasible improvement idea sharing options. With HIVE UI, user has freshness of simplicity with daily usages applications such as Call, Message, Camera, and Music and so on. Its call function has usual popular features and supports to native video calling. Under the connectivity option, user gets BT 4.0, USB 2.0 (No OTG), and really fast GPS, Wi-Fi without support to Hindi or any other Indian regional languages.

The XOLO Omega 5 is packed with a 1.4 GHz Octa Core processor alongside 1 GB RAM and 8 GB in-built memory. Memory expansion is supported up to 32 GB with a SD card. It has a graphic processing unit of Mali 450 MP4. The end user has a share of 548 MB RAM and 5.78 GB ROM. You can set the default memory location to SD card and third-party applications can be installed there.

The Omega 5 is packed with a 8 MP (F 2.0 Lens) rear camera with Exmor R sensor and 2 MP front facing. Its primary camera supports to FHD recording in 1080P resolution. Its Camera UI is different from other XOLO smartphones. Under the camera setting, few good features are Face Beautification, voice capture, gesture detection, object tracking, V sign capture to capture better Selfies. Daylight and micro shoot are brilliant since it has object tracking so it has quick focus at subject. Recently XOLO has released update to fix some bug that really improved its lowlight capabilities.

To improve the sound output, XOLO has powered the device with Yamaha Stereo amplifier. The Omega 5’s main speaker sound output is the below average. We used “Volume Booster” to improve volume, but ended with no success. Having low sound output while watching 1080p Video is quite annoying.

Panasonic P55 – Big Screen Device

I am a great admirer of Japanese technology and production quality. The P55 is Japanese cum Indian designed and China made smartphone available under 10000 rupees. If you are looking for a good phablet with good camera, processing power and decent screen then P55 is well recommended for you.

The P55 has elegant look and glossy design. Its back bear tiled pattern that is certainly gives it eye candy look, separated for its competitor under 10000 rupees category. The entire body is made out of soft yet very stiff plastic with very nice matte finish. Both SIM ports and SD card slot are hidden under the back panel. A Silver metal rim runs all-around, blended with side buttons nicely. In terms of total design, the smartphone looks quite impressive and premium.

Panasonic P55 Specifications

Its 5.5 inches phablet type display has a resolution of 720P and runs with IPS panel. Display has wide viewing angle and nano readability is really good. Colour reproduction is great and don’t wash out even while tilted to harden viewing angle. It runs on out of box Kitkat Android 4.4.2 and unconfirmed status on the OS update to Android Lollipop. User gets stock Android experience in row form without Panasonic’s Fit HOME UI. Though we miss the user friendly interface, but Android Native UI is knowingly easily accessible. Touch is quite responsive and doesn’t lag even while multitasking is on.

Like other Panasonic smartphones, the Gesture Play application takes centre stage for access control and security. You can reset or set new gesture by going to setting > Security > Gesture control. Also, it has double tap feature. In case you want to silent the double tap feature follow > setting > accessibility. It comes with all sweet apps of Google. There is bunch of widget and apps to drag and drop to 9 possible home screens.

The P55 phablet is powered by a Quad core processor of MediaTek with clock speed of 1.2 GHz for each core. There is a 1 GB RAM and 4 GB on board memory with memory expansion supported up to 32 GB. At the AnTuTU Benchmarks, the Panasonic P55 has 15640 score. For gaming review, we had played Asphalt 8 and Temple Run 2. On Panasonic P55, Temple Run 2 runs smoothly, but the Asphalt 8 shows lags at high end setting. However, playing of the Asphalt 8 with lower setting is completely lag free experience.

The Panasonic P55 has a 2500 mAh battery, which does last for 11 to 14 hours on heavy users. Even in the case of regular gaming and multitasking, its battery won’t let you down for a day at least.

Let’s discuss camera performance. Its 8 MP primary camera is supported by a Single LED flash and Auto focus. In the camera, shutter lag is almost zero so its auto focus works extremely fast and takes instant photos and videos. Besides FHD recording, user has choice to take photos while video recording is active. Under camera setting options, make sure you turn on zero shutter delay for instant shots.

At the current price of 9700 rupees, Panasonic P55 is a good choice considering its overall built, processing power, stock android experience, and realistic battery backup.
