HP Pavilion 15-ac044TU M9U99PA – Core i3/4GB/500GB/DOS
Sometimes increasing budget limit helps a lot in finding quality product and so is true with the HP 15-ac044TU 15.6-Inch Notebook. Its current online price of 25,980 rupees is not an affordable budget for low income customers. However, if you can accept the price, I would happily recommend purchase of this tough gadget. In terms of built quality, features, specifications and performance the laptop is much better than other budget notebooks in the market.
Look wise it may not attract many, but the use of high quality materials and HP’s simple yet solid craft makes the whole design much more premium and durable. Even though the outer shell is carved out of plastic but that is as sturdy as can be. Curved edges and textured finish give this laptop a little comforting feel. It also features a full-size keypad with Chiclets key. All this does not make the entire built heavier rather it is easy carry at just 2.14 KG of gross weight.
Display and Graphics
Images and videos do feel immersive on the huge 15.6 inch display of this laptop. Display resolution of 1366 X 768 pixels is not that high, but manageable keeping the price segment in mind. It is an LED backlit panel that does help in saving power.
The laptop is equipped with integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 GPU, which offers quality graphic reproduction. You will be able to play most of top line action pack HD games, but in low graphic settings available.
Processor, RAM and Storage
Unlike most of budget laptops, the HP notebook features Intel’s Core i3 5010U 5th Generation processor that can clock up to a speed of 2.1 GHz. For all your multitasking and rendering needs, it offers 4GB of RAM. There are two memory slots on this device that helps when due to some reason user wants to expand on-board RAM size. The SATA Hard Disk that comes along has mammoth memory of 500 GB. With read write speed of 5400 RPM, user will be able to complete tasks such as booting the OS, data transfer, playing HD games, etc., at much faster speed.
All that you get on this device is a copy of Free DOS (open source). We recommend installation of Windows 7 (not Windows 8 – a terrible OS) for the best computing experience with this laptop. We advise to have more than 70GB of free memory for C drive. A mistake that many users make during installation of operating system is assigning less than 50 GB to the primary drive (mother drive C), which results in performance issues in the future.
The HP notebook has got total three USB ports wherein one is USB 3.0 and balance two is USB 2.0. I do not understand why manufacturers are still adding USB 2.0 on the laptops available above 25,000 rupees. On USB 3.0 data transfer speed is around 12MPS whereas on USB 2.0 data transfer speed cannot cross to 3 to 4MBPS. The USB 2.0 is really slow and outdated technology now. The other basic connectivity features of this laptop are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, DVD Writer/Drive, HDMI port, Combined Audio Out/Microphone In port, RJ45 port and Multi-format SD Card slot.
The two speakers on this device generate audio with stereo effect. Moreover, integration of DTS Sound Plus technology results in clear audio at all frequencies. User will be dissatisfied with audio volume since the produced sound remains pretty low. Use VLC player to increase audio output many fold.
Using the Kensington lock slot, this laptop can be secured even when you are not around. The webcam on this device can capture HD resolution footage, but in low light the quality might disappoint you. Noise capture is a most common problem from which almost all inbuilt laptop microphone suffer and this notebook is no different.
I was really expecting a six cell battery unit in this price. Since the laptop gets power from 4-cell battery, I advise to carry the official charger in your laptop bag. In spite of HP’s quality assurance, power backup is average here.
- Tough design
- Produces less heat
- 5th Generation Core i3 processor
- 4 GB of RAM
- Battery backup is not that great
The HP Pavilion laptop ac044TU packs some great specs with few disappointments. It is good choice as a daily driver. The only reason why you should not buy this laptop is its average power backup. You can replace the battery with a powerful one if you want battery backup for three to four hours.
HP Pavilion 15-r250TU L2Z89PA – Pentium/4GB/500GB/DOS
For college students or newly joined sales executives or small families, the best brand in laptop is the HP. This brand is famous for offering a number of solid features at reasonable prices. However, most of the products manufactured by HP suffer from a big problem that is imbalance in specifications. The HP Pavilion 15-r250TU laptop is no different in this regard. It can be purchased for an amount of 22,000 rupees from online electronics mall.
This is a Pavilion series device flaunt the regular design with curved edges and the manufacturer’s branding on the back that all budget HP laptops have. Its outer shell is not that sturdy and feels kind of flimsy when you put light pressure.
Good news for user is the laptop features a full-size Chiclets keyboard with a separate numeric section. Moreover, this HP laptop weight is only 2.33 KG, which makes it easy carrying for a long journey or roaming within city for sales presentation.
Display and Graphics
You get a 15.6 inch display on this laptop that proves to be great for movie watching, gaming or doing everyday internet related tasks. I personally think that HD resolution of 1366 X 768 pixels is not enough for a display this big. You will feel individual pixels on the display. Since other laptops in this price segment suffer from similar pixelation issue (a minor problem in general) we should not question the HP for pixel mess. The WLED panel results in high brightness, less problem for eyes and low consumption of battery juice. Viewing angles are not that great, but manageable somehow.
The Intel HD Graphics GPU that this laptop is packed with is not much impressive. I am sure those gamer from heart will be disappointed.
Processor, RAM and Storage
I am sure many buyers will be dumbfounded after knowing that the laptop features a Pentium series processor inside. But good news is the processor chipset has four cores, those individual supports clock speed is of 2.16 GHz. Also, using the Turbo Boost technology the clock speed can be increased up to 2.66 GHz. L2 cache of only 2MB is not a worthy offering at this price.
The 4GB of RAM offers ample amount of memory for a plethora of apps to run simultaneously. However, if you like to use heavy apps like Photoshop, then there is always an option to upgrade the RAM up to 8GB. This HP laptop is packed with a 500GB of Hard Disk that can store unlimited number of movies, games or other stuff.
The notebook variant that we are talking here runs on DOS operating system. Therefore, you might need to buy a Windows DVD before actually using this laptop. However, if your budget is tight, then Ubuntu is always a free solution. I suggest using of Windows 7 licensed version costs only 2500 rupees including installation cost.
One can find two USB 2.0 ports and one USB 3.0 port on this laptop for enhanced on-the-go connectivity. It also comes with an onboard wireless Ethernet card that supports IEEE 802.11b/g/n standard. Other connectivity options on this laptop include Bluetooth 4.0, DVD Drive, Headphone Jack, RJ45 Port and 3-in-1 SD card slot.
This HP Pavilion laptop is also equipped with dual speakers, which really enhance the end user experience. You will enjoy watching movies or listening to music because of Dolby stereo effect in sound output.
The HP TrueVision HD webcam located at the top of the display allows user to do video conferencing with their loved ones in HD clarity. The in-built mic feature is highly sensitive, but also captures undesirable background noise.
Yes I can see declining fortune of HP as it is not ready to change according to the market demand. HP puts a four cell battery unit when all new launches from other brands come with six-cell battery unit. Yes, we agree that there is big different in quality. You will get a decent power backup, but a clever decision would be to carry the adapter along.
- Quad-core processor
- 4GB of RAM
- 500 GB of storage
- USB 3.0 port
- HDMI port
- Full size keypad
- Security lock slot
- No VGA port
- Only 2 MB of L2 cache
- Bad build quality
As far as performance is concerned, the HP Pavilion r250TU proves to be one of the best solutions currently available in the market. However, there are a number of cons to it. Missing VGA port and average build quality are some of major concerns that you should consider before buying this notebook.
HP Pavilion 15 AC039TU M9U93PA – Celeron/4GB/500GB/DOS
The HP 15-ac039TU is one of the cheapest 15.6 inch laptop one can buy online at just 19000 rupees of MRP. I am sure you must be eager to know features of this notebook. Even we were curious about the model as how HP has managed to put all standard components at such a low price tag.
Back panel of this laptop feels soft in the hand that comes with diamond shape grippy texture. I am not very impressed with overall built quality. Surprisingly my office colleague asked, is this really a HP gadget? HP’s class, comfort and solid built quality all seems missing from the Laptop. In fact, you will not be able to find difference when you compare with other sub standard laptops in the same price range.
The body is made of cheap plastic that flexes even if small amount of pressure is applied. My friend who has recently bought the laptop was forced to put a layer of scratch guard both on display and back panel to protect from scratch and forceful crack.
Display and Graphics
The 15.6 inch display with HD resolution of 1366 × 768 Pixels of this laptop is really big as compared to the price in the market. Thanks to HP’s BrightView technology that helps the screen to go really bright even when intensity of diffused light is high.
The integrated Intel HD Graphics graphic card is good at playing videos, but fails when it comes to intensive gaming. I am also not sure whether this laptop will be able to handle GPU hungry application like Adobe Photoshop and Cinema 4D.
Processor, RAM and Storage
It could have been a nicer if HP had decided to go with a Pentium processor instead of a Celeron N3050. Even with the Turbo Boost enabled, this processor’s ultimate reach to a clock speed of 2.16 GHz does not really help the end user. There is a single memory slot on this laptop and the preinstalled stick offers 4GB of RAM, which seems to be enough for an average user. The device also packs a 500GB of SATA Hard Disk.
At such affordable price tag, we cannot expect a premium operating system running on this laptop. The manufacturer has loaded it with free DOS platform, which can easily be replaced with Windows 7 at a cost of only 2500 rupees. When you install operating system ensure at least 100 GB for the primary disk for faster performance.
We appreciate the brand HP, which has managed to provide one USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports on this laptop. The device also features a RJ45 port for internet connectivity. The list of connectivity features of this laptop also includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, DVD Writer/Drive, HDMI port, Multi-Format SD Card Slot and a combined Headphone Out/Mic In jack.
Using DTS Sound + technology, two main speakers generate sweat audio with quality and clarity. I did enjoy listening to my favorite songs on the HP AC039TU.
The Touchpad is effectively sensitive and also support gestures using multi-touch technology. There is a webcam with inbuilt microphone good for video conferencing or Skype calling.
Considering the processing power and display efficiency, the 4-cell battery should provide at least 2-3 hours of power backup. Light users or more rightly casual users will be able to fetch up to 4 hours of battery backup.
- 6 inch HD display
- USB 3.0 port
- 4 GB of RAM and 500 GB of storage
- DTS Sound + technology
- Built-in microphone
- Disappointing build quality
- No VGA port
Besides undesirable build quality everything else on this laptop seems to be okay. It is designed to be good support for completion of online and computer based works. If you are thinking of tough multitasking, then consider the HP AC044TU has core i3 processor.
The HP Pavilion AC039TU notebook with 15.6 inches screen and 4GB of RAM for a price of 19000 rupees is a good deal. It is absolutely perfect gadget to help in study, meeting, presentation or online works such as bill payment, mobile/DTH recharge, online gas book, etc.
