Micromax Ignite LPQ61 Laptop – A good quality budget device for Indian homes
Micromax computers are really coming up in terms of sales, design and even quality. Gone are the days when mainstream computer manufacturers like HP and Toshiba dominated the market. Nowadays, you really aren’t sure who’s going to take lead in this ever changing market. The recent entry the Micromax Ignite LPQ61 has come to stir up some confusion in the notebook series. Consumers now have one more competitive notebook brand to choose from.
Besides the use of a reliable Intel Pentium quad core processor, this Micromax champ has a 4GB worth of RAM for faster multitasking. It has a Webcam and among its useable connectivity utilities is a Bluetooth radio, a Wi-Fi radio, some USB ports and one HDMI output port. For faster connectivity, it uses USB 3.0 for faster transfer of data and also comes with a functional memory SD slot.
The graphics processor is an Intel HD graphics chip, which works in collaboration with the 14 inch (LED-lit) HD screen to give an optimum resolution of 1366 x 768 Pixels.
Let us evaluate some unique features of this low cost must have laptop.
Stylish Looks and Brilliant Design
This laptop emulates a design that is very prominent in its rival notebook, the Asus Zenbook. Although the Zenbook might be a few millimeters slimmer, the LPQ61 is pretty much identical to it. I liked the well-spaced keyboard keys and the mouse is quite responsive although the clicks areabit stiff. I also did not like the cheap quality plastic feel on this laptop’s casing. Nevertheless, for its cheap price this is understandable. On another point, this product lacks a DVD drive and this factor accounts for its light weight. The 36 cm HD display helps you watch all videos with utter clarity at almost all viewing angles. I have no complains on the design.
Lots Connectivity Options
Micromax tried its level best to give users unlimited connectivity options with the LPQ61. To start with, it has two USB ports which are USB3.0 in nature for fast transfers. It also has an Ethernet port for connecting to local networks and internet too. A Bluetooth 4.0 radio is also an included utility in this computer, so you can share files from your gadgets to this computer using Bluetooth. For wireless connections to the internet, the product has a Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n radio. For audio output, you also get a 3.5mm audio jack from which you can plug in your headphones to listen to music from your computer.
Reliable Performance by Intel Processor
The Ignite LPQ61is a performer. Its Intel Pentium quad-core processor does it all with exemplary speeds. The processor’s clock speed is 1.6GHz although you have an option to Turbo boost it to 2.4 GHz. It has a cache memory 2 Megabytes. To ensure a consistent performance, Micromax built this product with 4GB worth of RAM. To me, this is adequate, as it allows the computer to handle multipletasks quite well. This computer runs on Windows 10 and is a 64 bit system. However, there have been several complains about overheating, but I never noted any overheating after using the computer for a few hour. Probably the heating could have been a result of long gaming hours and of course not all types of games are capable of doing this.
This product has a 4500MAh battery which gives you at least 5 hours of doing any task. I never got to assess how well the battery handles gaming but I am sure it can go for about three hours. The battery also needs about two hours to charge to full capacity.
Pros & Cons
This Laptop has some advantages which are inclusive of large storage memory of 1TB, a HD display and the powerful Pentium quad-core processor. However, on the weaker side, the laptop has issues with the mouse click buttons, they are too rigid. The sound quality is poor and on Windows 10 operating system, the computer is relatively slow.
Pricing and Verdict
This product costs about 19000 Rupees which is actually a fair price for its kind of specifications. I would recommend this computer to anyone who has little cash and just wants something powerful with almost all the basics of a good computer. However, if you can top up a few thousands on the 19000 Rupees price tag you can get a better performing HP Pavilion i5 computer.
