The brand LG did something quirky at the end of 2014 by launching the AKA smartphone in its homeland. This smartphone carries a unique USP with it. There are four different variants of the LG AKA, which does not differ in specifications, but in its flavor. Each variant comes with a unique theme and unique mascot. It has been considered a customer centric approach and has not been done yet in the market. The phone took its first step in the March of this year when LG decided to launch it outside its homeland Korea. However, it is still not clear when the LG AKA will be launched in India.
The four different variants also come with unique name, which is characterized by its mascot. LG AKA variant Eggy comes in yellow, Wookie comes in white, Soul comes in blue and YoYo comes in pink theme. This smartphone also comes with an attractive case that when used, triggers the display to show the mascot’s eyes. These eyes can be interacted within many different ways like swiping with fingers, plugging in headphones and shaking the phone. The design of this phone is really appealing. Its back panel comes with nice finish that gives premium while holding it in the hand. Power button and volume rockers are located on the back at a much friendlier position.
The LG AKA comes with a 5 inch IPS LCD display that has a resolution of 1280 X 720 pixels. Decent pixel density of 294 ppi makes everything sharp on this screen. It could have been a bonus if this phone had an OLED display as, then the animation would have become a little battery friendly.
Coming to the hardware, the LG AKA has got a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset) coupled with 1.5 GB of RAM. There is an Adreno 305 GPU for handling intense graphics. The 16 GB of on board storage of this phone can be expanded up to 32 GB using a micro SD card. You can find an 8 MP camera on the back with laser auto focus system. This phone also features another 2.1 MP camera on the front for selfie shooting. LG’s famous Gesture Shot feature also makes its way on this phone that enables the users to take selfies by just making a fist.
