Lenovo Yoga 2
In the convertibles gadget market, Lenovo offers many screen size options than the competitors. The Lenovo Yoga 2 is a 13.3-inch laptop and comes in a highly portable body. Moreover, you will not have to spend a lot of money to buy this laptop as it comes with a pretty affordable price tag of 53,980 rupees.
If you find comfortable working on a laptop most of the time, then an average size display will be a good option. We highly recommend the hybrid gadget Lenovo Yoga 2 for premium design, solid built, and smooth performance.
Use this laptop in a car or in a plane. Also, make it useful to create business presentations or various other executive works. I am sure this gadget can offer you great user experience. Lenovo Yoga 2 can be used in various modes like stand, laptop, tent and tablet. However, the laptop is a little heavy and makes you feel tired if used for a longer duration particularly in the tablet mode.
Design Is Not That Great but Not Bad Either
I am not saying this laptop looks cheap, but you will not get the premium level feel that other Yoga laptops offer. Build quality is good and the matte finish of the outer shell gives a nice appeal. Chiclet keys on the keypad are backlit, which is very good during travel. Positioning the air vents on the back is a smart move from Lenovo as this position shifts to the top when the laptop is used in tablet or tent mode. The touchpad also supports Windows 8 gestures.
Full HD resolution of 1920 X 1080 pixels works out really well on the 13.3-inch display of this laptop. High pixel density makes the texts and graphics look sharp. 10 point multitouch sensitivity is another great feature of the screen. Viewing angles are good, but the brightness fluctuates at extreme angles.
The variant that we are discussing here sports Intel Core i5 4210U processor. It features two cores and clocks at 1.7 GHz. Although 4GB of RAM is good for multitasking but this laptop is not a performance beast. You cannot run graphic intensive games or software smoothly on this laptop.
Like most of the Yoga series laptops, this device is also equipped with a Solid State Hybrid Drive. 8GB of Solid State memory increases the boot time and makes the user experience snappy.
This laptop is also limited on the connectivity front. It does not feature Ethernet port nor does it come with a full-size HDMI port. The good thing, however, is that it sports dual Wi-Fi antennas for seamless wireless connectivity.
- 500 GB HDD with 8 GB SSD
- Great battery life
- High resolution touch screen
- Convertible. Can be used in tablet mode
- Backlit keypad
- HD webcam
- Stereo speakers
- No Ethernet port
- No DVD drive
I will not recommend this Lenovo Yoga 2 laptop unless you badly want a compact convertible laptop. If you can manage with a large display, then there are many great alternatives available in the market.
Lenovo Yoga 3
Laptop technology has improved a lot in the recent years. Brands are heavily investing the laptop market as these devices are portable and have become popular among the customers. Premium laptops that are available today are great for editing movies, rendering graphics and developing apps.
If you are one of those who like to do power intensive tasks on laptops, then the Lenovo Yoga 3 can be a viable option. It comes in a premium body and offers top of the line Intel’s Haswell processor. However, to get this laptop you will have to lose good money from the pocket as it is currently available in the market for a premium price of 83,850 rupees.
Stunning Build Quality
The outer shell of this laptop is made of high-quality materials. The premium finish of the body gives a nice appeal to eyes. Metallic palm rest is really tough and will not get scratch easily. The laptop can be rotated up to 360 degree that helps in using it in 4 different modes. Backlit keypad gives a comfortable feel while typing.
The laptop comes in different variants and the one we are discussing here features Core i7 5500U 5th Generation processor that clocks at 2.4 GHz. It is not a true quad-core processor, but still offers great performance. You will be able to edit light movies and render graphics on this laptop. Moreover, the device also sports Nvidia’s GeForce 920A GPU that allows the users to run intensive games.
Unfortunately, the RAM is not upgradable, but the preinstalled 8GB stick will give a nice multitasking experience to the users.
SATA Solid State Drive
Lenovo has equipped this laptop with a 256 GB SSD. Those who do not know, SSDs offer super high read & write speeds. Also, SSDs do not produce any kind of sound as they do not come with moving parts. However, the limited storage can be a problem for some people.
Display Is Good But Not the Best
The 14 inch full HD display that the Yoga 3 present offers 10 points multitouch functionality. Graphics do appear crispy and the color reproduction is also accurate. However, it is not the best IPS panel in the market. Viewing angles are good, but brightness gets reduced when viewed from steep angles. Even the color gamut of the screen is limited.
- Solid build, hinges are durable
- Can be used in multiple modes like tent, stand, tablet and laptop
- Core i7 5th Gen processor
- 8 GB of RAM
- HD webcam and array microphone
- Stereo speakers
- Full HD display
- Samsung 256 GB Solid State Drive
- Bad battery backup
- No Ethernet port
- Lacks optical DVD drive
You are getting a premium product for a premium price. This laptop will give you satisfying performance every time. The most attractive feature is the Solid State Drive that offers great read & write speeds. However, there is still room for improvements and I would have loved a 6 cell battery on it.
Lenovo Yoga 300
In the budget laptop section, customers generally do not get a lot of options to choose from. However, Lenovo is trying to change this condition by offering convertible laptops at really affordable prices. The Lenovo Yoga 300 was recently launched in the market and is currently selling at an attractive price of 27990 rupees. It offers some great specifications and also comes in a durable outer shell.
Good Build Quality
Lenovo has not degraded the build quality of this Yoga tablet even at this price. The body of this laptop is made of durable materials. You will not find any kind of creaking or flexing on this device. Moreover, the hinges are pretty strong. Users can also use this laptop in multiple modes as the display can be rotated up to 360 degrees.
HD Multitouch Display
HD resolution of 1366 X 768 pixels might not sound that impressive, but at this price point it is manageable. Display of this laptop is touch-sensitive, which is indeed a good feature. Moreover, as the screen is only 11.6 inches in size, the pixel density gets increased. Videos and graphics are rendered perfectly without any glitch. Color reproduction is not very impressive and the viewing angles are also below the mark.
Quad Core Processor
The laptop comes with Intel Pentium Quad Core N3540 processor that clocks at a whopping 2.16 GH and offers great performance. Although it is a Pentium series processor but the performance will be on par with the laptops of the same segment that offers Core i3 Processor. You might know, but the truth is that most of the laptops under 60,000 rupees price tag actually come with a dual core processor but run 4 threads. So, you should feel lucky that this laptop offers a real quad core processor.
the budget limitation has restricted Lenovo from putting a Solid State Hybrid Drive on this device. But still, the 500 GB HDD that it features is fast enough to offer reputable read & write speeds.
Bunch of Connectivity Options
The manufacturer has made sure that the users of this laptop do not suffer from any kind of connectivity problems. You can find all the needed ports like HDMI, USB 2.0, USB 3.0, and RJ45 on this device. Moreover, it is also equipped with a 4-in-1 SD card reader and a combined audio-microphone jack.
Great Audio Quality
Unlike other budget laptops, this device comes with dual speakers that generate stereo audio. Dolby Home Theatre technology improves the sound quality and offers a great movie watching or music listening experience to the users.
- 360 degree convertible
- Multitouch 11.6-inch display
- Loud speakers
- Full-size HDMI port
- Weighs only 1.4 KG
- Intel HD Graphics
- 4 GB of RAM
- Solid build
- Bad battery life
- No DVD-ROM
This Lenovo laptop is really a great deal at this price point. In this segment, you will not find any other laptop with so many features. The build quality of this laptop is also appreciable. Moreover, the variant that we have discussed is just the base model you can go for a higher specification for more price.
Lenovo Yoga 500
The Lenovo Yoga 500 is for those users who want a compact convertible laptop that can perform intensive tasks. It comes in two variants, one offers Core i7 processor and another offers Core i5 processor. We will be discussing the latter one here, which is available in the market for a price of 56,489 rupees only.
14 inch Full HD IPS Touch Display
The main highlight of this laptop is its 14 inch IPS display that offers a full HD resolution of 1920 X 1080 pixels. Color reproduction is accurate and all the graphics on the display appear to be razor sharp. IPS technology results in wide viewing angles. The display also features a 10 point multitouch layer, which is really sensitive.
360 Degree Convertible
It would be more accurate to call this laptop as a 4-in-1 device than a 2-in-1 device. The display can be rotated up to 360 degrees because of which users can use this device in 4 modes including stand mode, tent mode, laptop mode and tablet mode.
Solid Build and User-Friendly Design
The hinges of the laptop are made of high-quality durable materials. Unibody design restricts the users from removing the battery. Metalling palm rest comes with brushed finish that gives a nice feel during the use. Controls keys like the power button and volume rockers are located on left and right sides respectively because of which it becomes easy to control the laptop in tablet mode. Moreover, the keypad offers deeper travel and is equipped with backlit technology to help the users in dark situations.
Decent Level Performance
At the heart of this laptop is a Core i5 5200U processor that clocks at 2.2 GHz. I will not say that this device is a power house, but it will offer a decent level of performance. NVIDIA N16V-GM GPU will let you play some good games. The laptop comes with 4 GB of RAM, but users can expand it up to 8 GB according to their needs.
Solid State Hybrid Drive
This Lenovo Yoga laptop comes with 500 GB of SSHD that offers 8GB of solid state storage, which acts as a cache memory for fast read & write speeds. However, users should understand that fast read & write speeds do not increase the performance of a device. It just helps in the faster handling of data.
- Full HD 10 point multitouch display panel
- Can be used in four modes i.e. stand, tent, laptop, and tablet
- i5 processor
- Inbuilt microphone and webcam
- Comes with Ethernet port
- Dual speakers
- One USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports
- RAM can only be upgraded up to 8 GB
- Full-size keypad is not available
- Battery life is not impressive
After the discussion, we can say that the Lenovo Yoga 500 is a great mid-range laptop. It offers good build quality, high resolution touch display and is capable of converting up to 360 degrees. It will be a great choice for travelers.
