Lenovo G50 80E5020VIN – 15.6 inch/4GB RAM/ Core i3/1TB HDD/Fours Hours of Battery Life

Lenovo has brought out its new budget laptop the Lenovo G50 80E5020VIN. The laptop is priced attractively at approximately Rs. 32000 and is available through various online and offline retail channels. But does it stand out or get lost in the long list of budget laptops entering the market?

The Lenovo G50 sports a sort of machined texture, but the body is completely plastic, with a glossy top something that’s to be expected from a budget laptop. On the left, you have the VGA port, an Ethernet port, an HDMI port, and USB 2.0 &USB 3.0 ports. On the right, you have a headphone/ mic jack, a DVD-RW drive, an SD/ micro-SD card slot, and another USB 2.0 port. The laptop measures in at 29.2 mm x 381.6 mm x 256 mm and weighs 2.2kgs.

For a laptop with a screen size of 15.6 inches, you would want the keys to effectively spaced out, but that does not appear to be the case. The keys feel a bit cramped up and are not the most comfortable to use, with some clicks not registering properly. The machine used a standard touchpad with dedicated mouse keys.

The display of the device is a sure winner at this price point. The 15.6-inch display has a resolution of 1366×768 pixels. The screen is the brightest in the segment and delivers a good colour output.Lenovo G50 80E5020VIN Review Specifications Price Online in India

Intel Core i3 Processor

The G50 is powered by a 5th generation core i3 5010U chipset clocked in at 2.1 GHz with 4GB of RAM. The laptop can handle multi-tasking with ease. With a dozen chrome tabs open, the laptop delivered efficient performance without breaking a sweat. For graphics, the machine relies on Intel graphics. Now if you intent to play heavy games we wouldn’t recommend this or any budget laptop for that matter. In terms of storage space, the laptop comes with 1TB of HDD.

The speaker output of the machine is a let-down. The output lacks the highs and sounds a bit muffled up. The webcams is a HD cam, but the output appears a bit grainy.

The laptop comes with DOS, so you will have to buy an OS yourself. The exclusion of an OS does explain how the company maintains to keep the cost low. But we would have liked an operating system pre-installed, even if that would have meant a bit higher cost.

The laptop will last you a bit over 4 hours on a full charge. Which is not the best, but we could not complain considering the price.

The Lenovo G50 80E5020VIN is a nice piece of hardware. The laptop delivers a good amount of performance. It is a fairly strong machine to support your daily work. The screen delivers a good output that makes watching videos or reading a breeze. The lack of an operating system is the true negative here as that instantly increases the price of the machine if you have to buy an original operating system. Overall if you are looking for a laptop around the Rs. 25k price bracket this is a good option.

HP 15 ac122tu – 15.6 inch/Core i3/4GB RAM/1TB HDD/Intel HD Graphics

HP has brought out a brand new laptop into the market the HP 15-ac122tu. The laptop is kept under the Rs. 30,000 price bracket, so it is a budget laptop. With a 15.6 inch screen, core i3 CPU, 1TB hard drive and 4GB RAM the laptop has a lot to offer, but is it worth the price? Let’s find out.

HP Laptops have always carried a premium look about them & this Laptop is no different.  The laptop has a nice glossy finish on the back with the HP logo in the centre. At 384 x 254 x 24.3 mm this is not a sleek machine and is not too light on weight at 2.19 KGs. Therefore, if you are into the new age slim laptops, then this might not be the machine for you. The huge dimensions though have a plus point in the form of keyboard layout. The keys are well spaced, are comfortable to use and you also get an old school Numpad. There is no backlight on the keypad, though.

Out of the various ports located on each side of the laptop, you get three USB ports out of which one is a USB 3.0 port while the rest are USB 2.0. You also have an HDMI port, LAN Port and a DVD-RW optical drive, which is something many manufacturers are skipping these days in order to make the laptops more compact and sleeker.

The 15.6-inch display powered by the HD BrightView WLED-backlit Display technology makes viewing movies or reading a pleasure on the device.HP 15 ac122tu Review Specifications Price Online in India

4GB RAM Performance booster

The HP laptop runs on the 5th generation of Intel’s Core i3 processors. The Core i3-5005U processor of this laptop clocked at 2.0 GHz along with 4GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage space. The RAM can be expanded up to 8GB. For graphics, the laptop relies on the Intel HD 5500. Needless to say, the HP 15-ac122TU is a powerful device. It will be able to handle every task you throw at it without a flinch.

In terms of software is where the company has cut down on its cost, as the Laptop comes with only DOS. This means you will have to shell out some money to get an OS into the machine. Indeed, this is a bad move as this instantly increases the price of the machine by at least Rs. 1000-2000 depending on your choice of Original Windows OS.

The battery on the machine shall give enough juice for 4.5 hours, which is fairly good enough.

There is no doubt that HP has built a brilliant machine here. With a good processor, sufficient storage space and overall design this seems as a bargain for your money. But as they say, all good things come at a price, and the deal breaker here might be the company’s decision to leave out an operating system. If you choose to go for a Windows OS, you might want to add-on Rs. 1000-2000 to the overall price. Now of course there is always the option of using pirated software, but we hardly ever recommend that.

The HP 15-ac122TU is bound to be compared with the Dell Inspiron 15 5000. Both Laptops offer almost identical specs with the dell Inspiron being priced higher up. But consider the fact that the Dell Inspiron comes with pre-installed windows 8.1 which really compensates the price difference. We suggest you take a look in the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 as well before deciding on the HP 15-ac122tu.
