Televisions have become our primary source of entertainment. These days we like to watch movies at our home, on our TVs and with our family.
TV market has transformed a lot in the last couple of years. A number of new players have made their entry and have affected the whole market to a great extent. Today, you get many options to choose from, but when a common man starts looking for a perfect TV for him everything becomes difficult.
Manufacturers use a number of hard to understand terms to tease their product and many customers easily get fooled. This seems much unfair to me. Since the last few weeks, I was spending a great time in searching for the best TVs that are currently available in the market.
I have come up with a list of 5 such LED TVs that offering great features at reasonable price. This article is dedicated to those who find it really hard to decide the best TV to buy for their home entertainment.
Intex LED-4200FHD 42 inches LED TV
From the last couple of years, Intex is trying hard to impress technology lovers. You might have also seen English men and women appreciating its full HD TVs in a television commercial. However, all the efforts made by Intex seem to be going in vain. If you ask me, then I would regard Intex’s price strategy as the most responsible factor behind its failure in the television business. In the month of May, the company launched its 4200FHD LED TV at a really high price of 41999 INR. The specifications and features that this TV offered were no more than what a TV from Micromax or Vu offers for under 25000 rupees.
After about four months, the same LED TV is now available at 25999 rupees. So, is this TV worth a try? Let’s find out.
The design of this LED TV is really appreciable. Thanks to the thin bezels that you will find your movie watching experience much more immersive. The TV is not that thick either and also features a curved profile on the back for easy access to the ports. You might not be able to move this LED TV by yourself because of its weight of 11.5 KG.
Its huge display of 42 inches will be enough for any room in your house. This LED TV also features wide viewing angles of 178 degree, which means you will not find any kind of color distortion from the sides. Also, the full HD resolution of this TV produces crisp and clear graphics.
However, your experience with this TV will not be as great as you are thinking. It comes with a much low static contrast ratio of 707:1, which results in bad picture quality. If you are a gamer and are planning to attach a gaming console to this LED TV then you will face a big disappointment because of its low refresh rate of 60 Hz only.
The Intex LED-4200FHD LED TV features two 10 watt speakers on the back, which are really loud. You will only need an extra set of speakers if you are planning to install this TV in a really large hall.
Two HDMI and two USB ports of this LED TV will expand your connectivity options. You will be able to attach multiple storage or other media devices to it simultaneously. The TV also comes with the needed connectivity ports like RF, VGA, Audio In, Audio Out and Component In.
The list of extra features of this LED TV is not that long, but it does contain some features that are worth mentioning. Its Eye-Safe-T Matrix technology reduces lag on the screen as well as ensures that your eyes do not get stressed. You can use the sleep timer feature if you are installing this TV in your bedroom and have a habit of sleeping before turning off the TV.
This LED consumes 98 Watts of electricity, which seems to be on the higher side to me. However, in standby mode, its power consumption drops to one Watt only.
- Bigger screen.
- Attractive design with thin bezels.
- Wide viewing angles.
- Digital noise reduction.
- Two 10 watt speakers.
- Auto Off.
- Sleep timer.

If you just want a TV with bigger display, then you should go ahead and buy this LED TV. However, if you need better quality and good features, then there are many alternatives in the market.

Samsung 28J4100 28 inches LED TV
Ask any expert about the best TV brand, he/she will only have one answer, Samsung. From the last couple of years Samsung is ruling every CES (Consumer Electronic Show) event. It a launches a new TV series with all new features every year. The Samsung 28J4100 LED TV is one such product that was launched this year and is currently available for 22745 rupees. On this TV, you will find all the trending features, but that does not mean it is free from cons.
Samsung has an age old habit of giving same look to all its products in a same price segment. Pick any TV manufactured by Samsung that is available under 25000 rupees and you will hardly find any difference in their design. However, the material used in this LED TV is sturdy and durable. Its bezels are not that thick, but they are also not much thin either. In fact, this TV looks more like a PC monitor than a TV. It is only 65.5mm thick and weighs just 4.3 KG with a stand.
The Samsung 28J4100 LED TV comes with a 28 inch HD display with a resolution of just 1366 X 768 pixels. Although you will be able to play full HD videos, but you will not be able to enjoy those at the fullest as there are not enough pixels on this TV. It uses Hyper Real Picture Engine to produce true color images with high contrast ratio. Samsung teases this LED TV with the Clear Motion Rate of 100 Hz, but you should know that its real motion refresh rate is much low.
The TV flaunts two 5 Watt down-firing speakers, which are not enough loud and you will be forced to buy an extra set of speakers. However, the quality of sound that this TV produces with the help of Dolby Digital Plus technology is really of high quality.
You get two HDMI and two USB ports on this LED TV to attach all your external devices. The list of other connectivity ports on it includes RF In, Component In, Audio In, Audio Out and VGA.
Features like Wide Color Enhancer, Digital Clean View and Analog Clean View enhance the picture quality of videos. You can also choose from various scene modes like Sports Mode, Indian Cinema Mode and Game Mode if you want the picture quality to be improved according to a preset.

Philips 39PFL3830 39 inches LED TV
Philips has become a reliable name in the electronics industry. It manufactures wide range light equipments, home appliances, beauty gadgets and TVs. I will not say that its products are the most affordable choice in the market, but yes they do pack quality features backed by trusted support. We will be discussing the Philips 39PFL3830 LED TV here, which comes at the price of 28420 rupees.
This Philips TV does not come with a much attractive form factor. The outer shell is sturdy, but because of the black reflective finish, it appears to be cheap. Its bezels are much thick as compared to the LED TVs of other manufacturers in this price segment. You will also not like the placement and design of the Philips branding on the bottom bezel. The TV is 83 mm thick, which means it will be hanging out from the wall (if you plan to go for wall mounting). However, it is really lightweight at just 7.7 KG.
The Philips 39PFL3830 LED TV sports a 39 inch display that packs a low resolution of 1366 X 768 pixels. Philips might be teasing this TV to be a HD ready product, but at this price customers should get a full HD TV. Leaving the pixel resolution aside, it is really a nice display. The IPS panel enhances contrast ratio, color reproduction and provides wide viewing angles. The Pixel Plus HD technology further helps in producing razor sharp graphics with true colors. Perfect Motion Rate of 120 Hz might sound impressive to gamers, but it is just a blown up figure that Philips has made by doing tricks.
It flaunts two 10 Watt speakers that produce really loud audio. You will not need an extra set of speakers unless you are installing this LED TV in a very big room.
By providing 4 HDMI ports on this TV, Philips has done something extra-ordinary. But the real fact is, you will never need that much HDMI ports. Moreover, I would have personally liked this TV if it had featured 3 USB ports instead of just 1. The good thing is that all the other connectivity options like F-Type Antenna, Component In, Audio In, Audio Out, Headphone Jack and VGA port are present on this TV.
This Philips TV supports a wide range of media formats including MKV, MP4, AVI, ASF and WMV. It also allows the user to connect his mobile device via Mobile High Definition Link (MHL).
Your pocket might feel a little burden of having this LED TV as it consumes 90 Watts of power, which is a lot more than the power consumption of other LED TVs. You will not need any stabilizer to run this TV as it supports wide voltage input of 100-240 Volts.
- Large display.
- Sturdy body.
- Loud audio.
- IPS panel.
- 4 HDMI ports.
- Produces stunning graphics.
- Single USB port.
- Low resolution display.
Although Philips has a reputation of offering nice features at nice price, but this TV does not seem to be on that track. There are a lot of other TVs in the market that offer same specs at much less price.
