The Karbonn Sparkle V aka Karbonn Android One has successfully made a reputation among smartphone users since its launch. One reason behind its success might be the belief that all the updates and manufacturing is monitored by Google. What many people do not know about this phone is that it has only 5MP camera, which is capable of recording full HD videos. All the specifications are similar to other Android One devices and this phone is currently available for 5050 rupees on Amazon.in.
Design and Display
The design of this phone differs much when compared to other Android One devices. The back panel is made up of a decent quality plastic and wears a matte finish that renders it fingerprint free. This phone has a rectangular speaker mess instead of a round one that we generally see on the Android One phones from Micromax and brand Spice. The gadget feels quite comfortable in the hand, thanks to the rounded corners and nicely carved edges.
The Karbonn Sparkle V features a 5 inch display with a resolution of 480 X 854 pixels. The big screen size results in low pixel density of 218 ppi only. However, the colors are vibrant and the details appear to be crisp.
5 MP Camera with FHD 1080P Recording
The phone features a 5MP auto focus camera at the back with a LED flash for low light imaging. You do not get much details packed in the images taken from the rear camera, but the sharpness is appreciable.
If you have looked up for the details of this phone on GSMArena, then you might have noticed that it says the rear camera is capable of shooting only 720p videos. However, that is wrong and GSMArena really missed on the optical front. The Karbonn Sparkle V supports full HD recording of 1080p at 30 frames per second. The color reproduction of the videos appears to be natural, but again the details are missed out.
The front is a 2 MP camera that proves to be quite good for selfie and video calling needs.
In response to Android One devices, Motorola announced the Moto E Second Generation, which is an improved feature of a 8 MP rear shooter. However, the fact is it does not have a LED flash makes the comparison a little difficult.
A MediaTek 1.3 GHz quad-core processor coupled with a 1 GB of RAM seems to be enough for this phone. However, the phone does struggle when it comes to game-play that requires intense graphic processing. The Mali 400MP2 GPU handles normal graphics pretty well though. The Karbonn Sparkle V comes with an on-board storage of 4GB only, but it can be expanded up to 32 GB using a micro SD Card.
On the connectivity front, the dual SIM card slots with 3.5 G support seems to be quite promising. In addition, you get advance connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and micro USB on this smartphone. The gadget is blessed with a long list of sensors that includes UV sensor, E-compass, Proximity sensor, Gravity sensor, Light sensor and Gyro sensor.
The Karbonn Sparkle V is powered by a 1700mAh battery, which does not seem to be enough in any way.
The Karbonn Sparkle V runs Android KitKat out of the box but last month the manufacturer started rolling out the Lollipop update over the air. The Android One program is run by Google, therefore you can expect that the latest version of Android will be coming to your phone like they come on the Nexus devices.
- Premium design with durable build material.
- 5 MP rear Auto-focus camera with 1080P FHD video recording support and a 2MP front camera for selfie lovers.
- 3 GHz processor with 1GB of RAM.
- The phone will get the latest Android updates for two years from the date of launch.
- Low pixel density.
- Battery life can be a problem.
If you can somehow compromise with the low battery life, then you can enjoy this phone at its best. The processing power is not in question and the camera performance is great. The fact that this phone will be getting the latest Android updates is really an exception.
