Fusion5 10.6 inch IPS Tablet PC
Many experts are spreading speculations on the internet that Tablets are dead in the modern world. But are these claims true? Well, a simple answer from me would be a big “NO”. Tablets are not dead and they will not die anytime in the near future. The main reason why people think tablets are devices of past is that they try to compare this category to smartphones, which is not the best way of measuring the growth of tablet market.
We need to understand that tablets are not smartphones. People generally change smartphones every year, but when it comes to tablets, they do not think of a new purchase before two or three years. Besides all the strong criticism, the tablet market is actually growing and becoming more competitive every year. This rising competition is giving birth to new brands every year.
Last year, a relatively unknown brand (in India) Fusion5 launched its 10.6-inch Tablet in the market and this device is currently selling at a price of 9,999 rupees. I do not think many people know about this tablet. This is mainly because the mainstream media did not focus on it. But this tablet has become quite popular in the budget segment of the market. After doing an in-depth research, we found that the customers who have bought this device are happy with it.
The looks of this tablet will certainly impress you. Fusion5 has followed the design language that many brands like Motorola, LG, and Yu are also following. The curved edges make it look cute while the wide bezels help the users in holding the tablet without touching the display. Interestingly, the manufacturer has placed a small rubber flap on the back that covers the microSD slot.
Even the build quality of the product is highly appreciable. It feels solid in the hand. But at the same time, this device is quite heavy at 980 grams.
IPS Display Panel
You will find a much wide and beautiful display on the front side of this tablet. It measures 10.6 inches diagonally and has got an HD resolution of 1366 X 768 pixels. The IPS technology increases viewing angles as well as the contrast ratio. The screen of the tablet is much vibrant and generates accurate colors. It is great for watching movies as well as browsing the web.
Even though this tablet offers a great value for your money, but I would not set my expectations too high. It comes with a quad-core processor that is based on Cortex A7 architecture, which is old. The 1GB of memory does help in running the OS smoothly, but do not expect to run the modern graphic intensive games. It offers 8GB of onboard storage that can be expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.
Fusion5 has equipped this tablet with two cameras both of which offer mediocre performance. The rear sensor captures snap in two megapixels, which is nowhere near to today’s high expectations. And, it would be better if I do not discuss the quality of its front VGA camera. My advice would be to stay away from this tablet if you love to do photography.
Good User Interface
This Fusion5 tablet runs Android Kitkat right out of the box. But it can be upgraded to Lollipop through an OTA update. The interface of the phone is quite simple. The manufacturer has done minimal customizations. Moreover, this device offers a good power backup as it features a massive 5,000-mAh battery.
- Attractive looks
- Decent build quality
- Good battery life
- Big and vibrant display
- Offers only 8 GB of onboard storage
- Worst camera performance in this category
- Not good for gaming
According to the price, this tablet offers appreciable specs. Those who want a tablet with a big display will love it. However, I would also recommend that look at some alternatives, especially the Xiaomi Mi Pad.
